Need help - Repug co-worker says:
The weapons of mass destruction in Iraq were taken out by the Russians.

I was so stunned, I didn't know what say. I am an idiot.

What would you say?

1. Two words: Says who?
Once you know who his bullshit source is, you can refute him better

7. When? How?
Then remind him of the arid climate and the constant monitoring via satellite, monitoring so close it can distinguish between beard shapes.

Remind him that infrared monitoring is part of this.

Then ask him how he feels about the Tooth Fairy.

2. Laugh
Just laugh - that's all you can do about a comment like that these days. If he really believes that, he's too far gone to be worth your time.

16. I agree , albeit reluctantly. There's only so many hours in the
day and you will never convince someone who is as kooky and ill-informed as this. We must be smart about whom to spend time and energy trying to convince.

As someone older and wiser once told me, "Pick your battles" (meaning not every argument is worth waging, nor every person worth trying to convince).

And have a nice tall, refreshing glass of reality.

Or tell him to get his ass back to work.

"that stupid" :) In which case, one would ideally find another job or place of work.

Edited on Fri Jun-16-06 01:12 PM by kwolf68
He believes it because he wants to. People like this are useless. He doesn't "wonder" if the Russians took them out, he doesn't "question" who may have...he just flat out states they have been taken out by Russia. Typical Conservative ploy...just say something and believe it to be true irrespective of no facts to back up contention.

Yea, WMD that Sadam had, that he didn't use while our military was taking him down. Suuuuuurrrrrrrrrreeee!!!!

10. Oh jeepers, not again
tell him/her that they have satellite photos that they proudly displayed of parking lots at different times of the day - where they counted cars and drew conclusions about what the facilities were for.

How the fuck, given this incredible technology, and the fact that we were on this shit like white on rice, did anyone sneak all these weapons out?

Please.

SEC. RUMSFELD: Not at all. If you think -- let me take that, both pieces -- the area in the south and the west and the north that coalition forces control is substantial. It happens not to be the area where weapons of mass destruction were dispersed. We know where they are. They're in the area around Tikrit and Baghdad and east, west, south and north somewhat.

and then this..

satallites, our eyes in the sky would have seen this - WMD's can't be loaded on the back of Toyota and smuggled across the desert with any amount of efficiency, if WMD's were smuggled out it would have been a grand undertaking with some kind of Red Flags from our eyes in the sky

15. Russians wouldn't need it. They have all that old nuclear material
that we were supposed to help them destroy since they no longer have the resources to keep it secure. Our assistance in that project was curtailed, however, under the Bush administration. Feeling safer yet?

27. The Rushbo-Freeper types would fail any exam based on facts.
The wingnuts have so convinced themselves that truth is spin and spin, truth, that they would be unable to pass a test based solely on established fact.

For example, they'd almost all get this question wrong:

"Was Hitler's National Socialist Party left-wing or right-wing?"

From experience, I know that most Freepers are so aggressively uninformed that they would answer that the Nazis were liberal, not conservative.

That's not just ignorance, that's contrived, deliberate, intentional ignorance -- ignorance that is being promulgated so that it can be manipulated by evil men.

And that's what we're up against.
