Buchwald, Continuing Comeback, Confronts Coulter

NEW YORK Famed humorist Art Buchwald, who appeared on the verge of death earlier this spring, only to emerge from a hospice still full of fight, took on the ultimate challenge in today's Washington Post column: Ann Coulter. Feeling up to it, he labled her a "born-again hater."

Buchwald kicked off the column by claiming that a broomstick in his closet was missing, and someone told him that Ann Coulter was flying around on it. He supposedly responded: "She's a very busy witch. This is her fifth broomstick." She buys them at Wal-Mart, he surmised.

In that "conversation," Buchwald suggested that he doesn't "even like her hair...It gets tangled up in her broomstick."

He also recalled her statement that her "only regret with Timothy McVeigh is he did not go to the New York Times building" and announced that, for sure, he would not be buying her new book.
