What shocks me is not that the GOP lies, what shocks me is that common

People parrot those lies without a thought to what they are saying....

Has anyone been on myspace Republican's page? It is the most surreal and sad thing. One sane individual was seeking explanation on why the rich should get the estate tax repealed while benefits to service members were cut. They jumped all over him. They quoted STEVE FORBES...the billionaire to explain why repealing the estate tax was a good thing.

No understanding of the fact that in order for the ultra-rich to get this tax, our children will be placed into further debt (already approaching 30,000 per citizen). No understanding of the huge disparity in the concentration of wealth. They are completely deluded into thinking that these ultra-rich people somehow EARNED this wealth. No understanding that there wealth is built on the backs of millions of others.

Not a thought given to the fact that the value of a worker should be given equal (if not exceeding) importance to the value of a investor.

Most of the posts seemed to be dedicated to exploring how stupid liberals are...

It is such a shame. It is one thing for a few wealthy, corrupt criminals to seek to maintain power and wealth. It is entirely another when the people they are suppressing are DEFENDING them for screwing them.

I just wanted to scream....WAKE UP. They are robbing US blind. Not liberals. Not Republicans. ALL OF US. ALL OF US will have to deal with the consequences of their greed, disregard for science, and war profiteering.

It is both sad and terrifying that human beings persecute the people who are trying to help them.

1. As long as stupidity and bigotry are rampant, the truth will never...
.... be the primary interest of the American population (as an aggregate).

imo.

2. You Can Fool Some Of The People All Of The Time
But, like the GOP, you have to work at it.

And, like wingnuts, they have to WANT to be fooled.

3. It scares me how ignorant so many people are...

And, how they wield that ignorance as absolute fact.

A little (a VERY little knowledge) is, indeed, a dangerous thing.

4. People need to start thinking for themselves and quit believing
everything they are told.

I'm reminded of the line "There's a fool born every minute" and it's so true. People are too trusting, or too lazy to check for themselves. America has become a lazy, complacent society. So lazy and so complacent that a buffoon like Rush Limbaugh, a drug addict, can say something and people will take it at face value. Ignore the fact that the man has a somewhat distorted view of reality, ignore the fact that he went to great lengths to get prescription drugs in an illegal manner. The guy is a drug abuser and people believe what he says. He's not much better than the bum shooting heroin in the alley, an addiction is an addiction. Rush just does it in nicer surroundings.

People believe Bush because...why? Because he's a nice guy? Ask some of the families of people he's executed about what a great guy he is. Ask some of the elderly people he displaced from their homes to build that spiffy new stadium in Arlington, TX about how wonderful Bush is. And just ignore the fact that he has lied to EVERY AMERICAN, regardless of race, religion, or party affiliation. All of us, except for the privileged few, suffer because of this blind faith in a man who has done nothing to deserve it. In fact, he's done everything to prove he's NOT trustworthy.

Americans are lazy and complacent. And it's a disgusting shame. Thank goodness our ancestors weren't as lazy and complacent, or we'd likely still be living somewhere else. Of course, the American Indians might not have much of a problem with that!
