David Sirota calls John Stossel a "Smarmy Looking Liar" on Kudlow & Co.
Edited on Fri Jun-16-06 05:58 PM by KoKo01
just now.

Larry Kudlow (CNBC BUSINESS CHANNEL) was having a discussion about raising the minimum wage on his show and Sirota and Stossel were guests.

Stossel at one point said: "David, you're the one on Amazon.com who called me a Smarmy looking liar" and Sirota shot back: "John, you ARE a Smarmy looking liar."

Sirota went on to eviscerate "Dumbo Stossel's" failed arguments about how teenagers can't get jobs if we raise the minimum wage...they you can't hire a kid to mow your lawn or do construction where they could learn a valuable trade if you raise the minimum wage ....and Sirota gave him statistics that proved him totall wrong. Sirota cited an Oregan study that proved since they raised their minimum wage job growth and tax base has increased. Stossel then went on again trashing Sirota...

At the end Kudlow thanked Stossel and said: "John, Thank You...your book is number 2 on Best Seller List. He didn't even give David Sirota a plug for HIS book "Hostile Takeover" (which BTW is a FANTASTIC READ!)

We need more Democrats like David Sirota who go after these Repug Righties and call them on it.

:applause: for David who DID NOT HOLD BACK!!!

1. Kudos To Mr. Sirota, Ma'am
Evidently he is man of clear sight and a sound judge of character: Stossel is a smarmy liar.

2. Good for David!!!
John Stosell is just...I have no words for him. In ads for his book it says things like "DDT in your food is good for you" and "overcharging for consumer products is good for the economy."

9. stossell reminds me of kenneth bianchi
one of the hillside stranglers...the exact same 'smarmy looking liar' mien as bianchi! (who tried to pretend he had a split personality, with he himself totally innocent of murder, even a victim of the other 'personality'!!)...like 2 peas in a pod.
kudlow looks like vlad the impaler, but w/out any of vlad's cachet....smarmy is actually a good word for kudlow too!

12. What's weird about Kudlow is that he's having Rober Reich and some
Dems on his show ...yet I find that to watch him...I curse at him and swear and my blood pressure must go through the roof. Is NBC which owns CNBC just promoting "Book Deals" so Kudlow has to "Mix" his show even thought he looks on us "Lefties" as "dog food?"

So...to get through his show we need to know that NBC/GE owned by a "Jack Welch Clone" is just "playing the left for FOOLS?" They try to have "opposing views" but that means that Sirota and other Lefties have PUBLISHERS who are PROMOTING THEIR BOOKS...so Kudlow complies and has them on ...but in his "Kudlow Gut" he finds them :puke: but he likes the MONEY $$$$$$$'s that he can RAKE IN for CNBC?

It's all a "Whore Game" no matter where one looks...It's really disgusting what we deal with as viewers who pay BIG MONEY for CABLE these days ...isn't it..:puke:

13. douchebag

The “GOP”
This moustache is still somewhat socially acceptable within some circles, thus it is not as manly as some other styles. Still, the GOP does make a strong statement about the political stance of the wearer. Demonstrated here by John Stossel, the GOP makes a statement to everyone that you are a strong conservative who goes to church, loves his wife, and probably works in law enforcement. The GOP may lack the danger and excitement of some other stashes, but you can’t argue with its message. The “GOP” may also be referred to as the “Ned Flanders”. In truth, it’s kinda like a mullet… business on top, and party in the back. It’s facial hair, but the wearer isn’t really going all the way. Too much business, and not enough party if you ask me.

15. Didn't he start out as some kind of "crusader" for Consumers? Where
Edited on Fri Jun-16-06 07:21 PM by KoKo01
did he go wrong? My recollection is that he started out when the "Enviro Movement" was at it's peak and way back then he sounded kind of good as an "Advocate" for Consumer Rights on ABC.. Somewhere along the line this guy took a RIGHT TURN and has never been the same since.

Or...was he a "Plant" from the "get go" to start out "moderate" and then build up to his RW Propaganda...Sheesh...he's really Gross and I haven't watched Network TeeVee in so long...I might have missed his "gradual transition." :-(

19. He has a web page
http://www.davidsirota.com/

"just did a debate with John Stossel on CNBC’s Kudlow & Cramer (if anyone has a YouTube version, let me know). Stossel, as I have written before, really is a pathological liar - and he came through in proving that today. He once again tried to peddle the assertion that raising the minimum wage hurts job creation even though the cold, hard facts show that’s not true. When I pointed this out to him, he then resorted to saying the facts were created by “liberals” and then actually accused me of posting a review of his book on his book’s Amazon.com site - another lie.

Seriously - the fact that this guy is still employed by a major media company is really beyond words. ABC News employs and airs the work of a pathological liar."

20. Sirota's piece on the exchanges at Huffpo today. Telling it like it is.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/david-sirota/debating-a-pathological-l_b_23220.html

"Unfortunately, Stossel uses both his perch at ABC News and the conservative movement's right-wing apparatus to promote these kinds of lies. He gets awards from right-wing groups, and is given a platform at corporate-funded, fringe-right-wing groups like Townhall.com and the Cato Institute. He is, in short, a good exmaple of why I wrote Hostile Takeover - because we have to start fighting back frontally against these professional pathological liars, and the first way to start fighting back is to start shoving the facts in their faces."

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/david-sirota/debating-a-pathological-l_b_23220.html
(bold empahsis mine)

Sirota: "it's the cold, hard fact, gleaned from simple arithmatic".

And he's got the charts and graphs to prove he's right.
http://www.fiscalpolicy.org/FPISmallBusinessMinWage.pdf

The party plutocracy could really use the weaponry of this face and voice on our behalf in the media somewhere every single night, but I don't see that happening. They can't control his message.

23. Sirota is how it's done. How it HAS to get done.
Edited on Sat Jun-17-06 11:30 AM by chill_wind
With irreutable facts and the balls to match.
The touted "260 hit pieces" by the DLC/think-tankers over a total of 6 years, preached to a magazine circulation of 40,000 choir members isn't. Not in a GOP-media saturated country of 297 million with television sets and daily newspapers.

We should have a hundred Sirota strategists out there every night. EVERY night.

It's NOT a complicated message. There are things every working-class American already intuitively understands. He names the names. Calls it what it is.

Molly Ivans:

"For my marbles and chalk, the pick is David Sirota's "Hostile Takeover: How Big Money and Corruption Conquered Our Government -- and How We Take It Back." Sirota is a new-generation populist who instinctively understands that the only real questions are "Who's getting screwed" and "Who's doing the screwing?"

The extent to which corporate power has taken over the country and is running the table cannot be exaggerated and must not be ignored. Sirota has not only collected much new and useful information, he has put it into a package that provides handy weapons to fight back.

Si, se puede. "

While you're waiting for the book, I can recommend this recent WAPO piece:

DEMOCRATS
FIND YOUR TRUE CENTER (Don't Compromise)

By David Sirota
Sunday, June 11, 2006; Page B04

If Democrats ever want to regain their status as a majority party, they must move to the center. But that means moving to the real center -- one very different from Washington's definition of the term.

22. STOSSEL acts like the "hurt caveman" in the Geico commercial
Edited on Sat Jun-17-06 10:58 AM by UTUSN
The one who is too hurt to have an appetite when the Geico dude (same actor?) tries to apologize with a free lunch.

STOSSEL has a memory for slights like the Libertarian elephant he is. A few weeks ago, Mistah KURZ hosted him and was making nice, when STOSSEL said something like, "You said (this-nasty-thing-about-me-in-your-column)," delivered with the same hurt-caveman look. Haha.

24. No he didn't -- Stossel brought it up, whining about it
What could he say except "You Are."

He's not the type to just come out name calling, like O'Snidely.

So now we know how to "get" Stossel: criticize his looks!

Maybe someday his mustache will leave the 70s, but Stossel's waistline never will. (Pa--rump--pump.)

I once saw a guy with almost as much acne as Stossel--then I realized it was an open jar of mayonnaise. (Ka--ching!)

Where did he get that suit? BIgnTall Buttplugs? And who knew they made them that small?
(laughtrack)

Hey, this is fun!
