Sex Fines Without Merit
CBS Stations: Sex Fines Without Merit

CBS affiliates filed a motion on Tuesday to have the $3.3 million worth of fines levied against a Dec. 31, 2004, Without a Trace rebroadcast — which, the FCC says, depicted "numerous sexual activities" and "sexual conduct" among teens — tossed out because not one of the 4,211 complaints about the episode came from anyone outside of the websites operated by two conservative advocacy groups: the Parents Television Council and the American Family Association. "Permitting enforcement reliant on a national mass e-mail campaign is akin to permitting the to single out programming it dislikes, in the absence of any viewer complaint," argue the affiliates.

2. kick
I thought more people might find this of interest.

Wikipedia has this on AFA: "The American Family Association (AFA) is a conservative, Christian non-profit organization founded in 1977 by Rev. Donald Wildmon as the National Federation for Decency. The AFA is headquartered in Tupelo, Mississippi."

The PTC is the one that made a huge deal out of Janet Jackson's wardrobe malfunction on the Superbowl. These groups need to be stopped.....somehow.

3. We could sign up for their activist newsletter

Then when sending an email from them say we are part of the AFA Clone Network. Same with the Parent's Television Council.

5. Maybe one day
the "wont somebody pleeeaaassse think of the children" crowd will learn what the OFF button on the remote is.

They might also figure out that people don't have sex just because they saw it on TV, in the US where seeing a nipple causes national outrage the average age for people to start having sex is LOWER than in nations where seeing people screw on TV isn't a big deal.

6. I agree
And if you notice that Britain also includes more swear words in commercials, and I believe that the amount of kids or teens swearing there is a lot less.

Traditional families which serve alcohol at meals, such as wine, also seem to have less problems with alcohol as the kids age. It's sort of like when the temptation is removed, there is no urgency to indulge in it.

But then, no one ever said that these RRR groups ever had much common sense.

7. I wonder if there is a way to use the anti-spam laws here ?
I mean seriously, if I got 1000's or even 100's of emails in-mass... I would be filing an abuse complaint with their ISP and possibly contacting authorities. Label this kind of abuse "spam" and identify the "spammers" (see OP for names) and it takes on a whole new flavor.
