Jackson Lee accepts apology from White House's Snow

WASHINGTON - In the self-blame department, White House spokesman Tony Snow had a political doozy.

"I apologize for being an idiot," Snow said Thursday during his daily briefing to the news media. "I misidentified Representative Sheila Jackson Lee as Cynthia McKinney."

Last week, Snow gave reporters a routine account of a meeting President Bush conducted with members of Congress on Iraq. In the retelling, Snow confused one African-American Democratic female lawmaker for another.

"Cynthia McKinney made the point yesterday in the meeting with the president that the one thing they had gotten from generals there were thorough and honest assessments of what's going on," Snow said then.

But it was Jackson Lee, a Houston Democrat, who had made the point. McKinney, a Democrat from Georgia, wasn't at the meeting. Reporters were unaware of Snow's mix-up because they had never seen the private session.

I saw the two of them side by side on the news today announcing McKinney's non-indictment.

there is a little resemblance besides skin color. Hair length about the same, although Jackson Lee usually has her hair pulled back. About the same age. I don't think I would get them mixed up, but?

...feral pigs. trent would actually be all rockabillied up and he'd play the guitar. frist, with a little grease in his hair and some facial piercings, would play base. they'd put a rockabilly wig on ashkroft's head and he'd have a tee-shirt on with rolled up sleeves so you could see the swastika tattooes on his upper arms. they'd open up the show with a rockabilly version of "let the eagle soar".

on edit: they have a great stage show too. jesse helms and the corpse of strom thurmond do stage dives into the crowd.

...to me. square looking and dumb. i can hardly tell one fascist boot licker from the next. if it wasn't for the extra 25 lbs. of flesh hanging from brit hume's face, i wouldn't be able to identify him either.

fact that these women look somewhat alike as mentioned upthread, they don't sound alike. They have different personalities. And for someone in Tony's position to slip up like this just speaks volumes about his wiring.

even if he thought they looked the same, you would think he would know for sure which one met with the Chimp. it's one thing if he was just pointing out some clip he saw on tv or something.

but this was a meeting the Chimp who is supposed to be President had with congress members. it's not even a matter of him having to see her. but just being informed of who the CHimp was meeting with.

He's yet another in a long list of administration employees who were selected not for competence but for their wingnuttiness.

I'm not paid to identify congresspersons and I even have the disadvantage to have never met either of them and *I* can identify them on sight. How long do we have to put up with these Bush goons? Maybe it's time to put up a countdown clock.
