Claws Come Out On "The View"
Come back, Meredith! Now that the show's smoothest operator has ditched "The View," everything's descended into total and utter chaos, if this morning's edition was any indication.

Comedienne Sandra Bernhard appeared on the show and, amidst a discussion about Laura Bush, characterized the First Lady, with her typical acidity as "heavily medicated." Co-host Elizabeth Hasselbeck, a vocally ardent Republican, took acute exception and tried to defend Mrs. Bush's work on childhood education, whereupon Bernhard called Hasselbeck "honey" – and then the sparks really flew.

5. Elizabeth should be sent back to the island.
Didn't get her VIEW credentials and notoriety from SURVIVOR?

21. I think we agree that she is not qualified.
Unfortunately, I dropped a word when typing my original post. Should have been:

"Didn't she get her View credentials and notoriety from Survivor?"

I also assume that most everyone thinks Survivor is complete BS.

10. Sandra can throw down. (True story...after the break)
When I was a bartender, one of my co-workers, whom I rarely worked with, but yet I had to clean up his pathological mess every night my shift followed his, was obsessed with Sandra B.

Right after 9/11 she had a show in NYC that he wanted us all to go to with him at Joe's Pub. We thought that since we're "all in this together" we'd show some solidarity and share a bunch of laughs.

Well, it didn't take not more than a few minutes into Sandra's show that crazy co-worker decides to start heckling Sandra, even though he's a fan. We were slouching in our seats, which were really close. She turns to him, and says something that to this day I repeat to neo-cons:

"Honey, where you come from...September 11th never happened. Because where you come from, you're the only one that exists."

I had no reaction because she spoke the truth.

I would never heckle a performer, yet you can be damned sure that now the thought would never cross my mind.

11. That's it, isn't it....
with these fuck everybody Right-wing types. They lack empathy to the point of not realizing others exist, much less have their own experience of life.

I saw Mr. Hassleback "speak" a couple of years ago. I put speak in quotes because his act consisted of poorly told football stories and a lame attempt to portray himself as compassionate. I happen to know he got paid $5000.00 for 45 minutes of this drivel.

That's my Republican bumper sticker this year.

I met up with a friend tonight I hadn't seen in way too long and we hated it.

It didn't take us much to catch up with politics because his partner and I, I realized, are cut from the same cloth.

When we really got down into the state of the union after bitching about our Republican brothers, sisters, and in-laws, the only example I could find to accentuate my point about how they were all detached from reality was to put my glass in front of him and, in the persona of a neo-con, say:

"You see this. This is NOT a glass."

"Yeah it is", he responded.

"No." I said. "George Bush told me this is NOT a glass."

"Buddy, you've been drinking out of that...glass, which we ALL call a...glass, since we've been here," he reassured me.

I said, "Look, Rove told Rush to tell us that THIS is a fork. And Ann Coulter, and Hannity, and Bill O'Reilly agreed. And Michael Savage, too. So did Rita Cosby. But that's besides the point. Geraldo says it's a fork, too. And so does CNN. They all call it a fork. What's wrong with you? They all say that this thing you call a "glass" is actually a fork. So they are right and you are wrong. I understand you have these crazy conspiracy theories about "glasses", but the forks are what's real. That's what the T.V. says is true. Look, I'm too busy with my every day life to pay attention. I have kids and work double shifts, and have credit card bills out my ass, so I have no time to think. I've got a mortgage to pay. But they told me this is a fork, so it must be a fork."

We then went on to lament that even though we're in our early 30's, we might be part of a generation that isn't contracted to fight an unjust war, just because we needed a job. We had the opportunity to go to a public school and got a decent education. We even went on to college, when it was affordable.

But could we be the last generation where this was an attainable and admirable part of the American dream?

19. god I can't stand Hasselbeck
Every time she tries to defend the republicans, she gets all teary-eyed and her voice cracks. Oh boo-hoo. When she talked about Michael Moore and his "mockumentary" falsely portraying the veteran as anti-war, she got all emotional as she said, "our troops support this war and our president." Whatever bitch. I would know better than you how our troops feel about this debacle. Go buy some more designer clothes and you'll feel better.

I agree that The View should have a conservative co-host; after all the whole point of the show is for views of different women of different ages, races (oooh, 4 white women and 1 black), etc. But get one that has half a brain, can form an actual argument, and doesn't get so emotional all the damn time.

Watch the YOUTUBE clip. At the end they are all talking over Sandra and trying to shut her up. Barbara is going on about Sandra's views being her own as if she has the plague. Bitches!
