Great music, great scene. More anti-bush stickers then you can shake a stick at. Awesome! Next year we will do a DU meetup there.

1. wish I could have made it . . . continues on Sunday . . .
ClearwaterFest is by far one of the most unique and fun gatherings around today . . . I don't know what number they're on now, but in 1969 I helped to put on the "Fourth Annual Hudson River Folk Picnic and Festival" (as it was then called) at Jay Gould's Lyndhurst Estate in Tarrytown . . . Pete was there, Arlo was there, but I don't recall who all else . . .

interestingly, the festival was scheduled about six weeks after Woodstock . . . and the local official were extremely worried about uncontrollable crowds and the problems they bring . . . no matter how many times we told them that attendance wouldn't exceed three or four thousand, they just wouldn't listen . . . and insisted we install like 40 porta-johns, just in case . . .

so there, on a gently slopping tree-covered path meandering down to the river -- standing at attention like soldiers on watch -- were 40 forest green toidies . . . of which we used about six . . . wish I'd taken a picture, though . . . :)

if you're in the area Sunday and have some time, check out the festivities at Croton State Park . . . and say hi to Pete for me . . . :)

I only was able to go once. It was the year they held it at some winery. The place was giving out bottles of wine for $1.00 each. Needless to say there were a lot of drunk people by mid-afternoon, when the skies opened up and it started pouring. Pete Seeger played throughout the storm. At the end of the storm the sun came out and everyone was wet and drunk, singing Kumbia.
