My catfight with a Young Republican...yes, it included slapping!
I don't know why this episode just came back to me, but it is shameful and humorous all at once.

I had joined a real estate firm on the condition I have my own neighborhood in Arlington, Va as my "farm". A "farm" is an area you prospect in for listings, and each agent generally chooses an area...and since my own neighbood was available, I took it.

Then along came Karen or whatever her name was. She said it was HER area, and she said she chose it because she was a member of the Young Republicans and MY neighbhood tended to vote Dem. She did not live in the neighborhood, but that was not why she chose it in the first place.

I can't recall how it started, but we were in the lobby, and came to blows with scratching, hair pulling and all manner of mayhem. I know I did not throw the first punch, as I am not prone to violence. Plus, being under 5', I can seriously get my ass kicked. I am laughing as I recall this now, as it really was a catfight! Several agents came out of their offices to witness the fight.

My broker would not honor our agreement and instead thought we should "divide" the neighborhood. I ended up leaving for another broker instead.

I wish I could remember her name....she was a real bitch.
I will have to ask my friend Mark if he remembers her name. I would bet she has risen in the party as this was back in the early 90's.

3. Why would any....ANY real estate company be so stupid
as to award someone an area because the representative is attempting to invade and convert for outside political purposes? That broker should have had his/her hair pulled out for making such an insane decision - the woman was not working there to campaign for the do-nothing Republican Party.

5. That broker had no backbone....
She probably did not state WHY she wanted the area in the first place. I did let him know what I had learned as to why SHE wanted it. He would not take action...again, no backbone.

If it was not so late, I would call my buddy and ask for some names do do some googling.

I am still kind of giggling over the whole thing. I really had buried this in my memory banks until now.

6. Are you still in Real Estate?
If so, would you like some free advertisement and somewhere to show your listings for free?

8. I have a knee injury which keeps me from doing steps
I still have an active license (my broker allows me to remain, just to work on her computers), but I don't tend to find people who only want ranch style homes.

For right now, my license just makes it look like I have a consistent employment record.

Our market is sucking air in NC, which is where I am now.

If anyone is looking to move here, I am more than happy to help. Goodness knows I need the income.
It is pretty here...just here are no jobs to speak of unless you are a nurse.

10. Sorry to hear about your injury... I know the feeling though,
I got hurt at work almost 3 years ago (fell from a roof and broke my neck) and haven't been able to work since, and am now classified as 95% permanent disabled. I set up a couple of websites as a way to try to make money, but haven't had any luck. Maybe some of the other realtors at your office would like some advertising? When you get a chance, check out http://www.myrealtorslist.com ... I have it set up where people can join for free as a charter membership and show up to 25 listings.

I hope you have a good prognosis for your knee though. I know how it feels not to be able to do what you love to do anymore.

once went to lunch with dad and his brother, a lawyer at the Justice Department. A guy my dad worked with joined them and made the mistake of using the n word in front of mom. She reached over and slapped his face. GO, MOM! GO, YOU! Cut from the same cloth. :-D
