Murtha attacks Rove with a broadside...
so to speak... :) On MTP this morning:

"He’s in New Hampshire. He’s making a political speech. He’s sitting in his air-conditioned office on his big, fat backside, saying stay the course. That’s not a plan."
====================================

I'm thinking that is exactly the way to counter the Karl Rove and John O'Neil types that sit back and lob attacks on individuals and our Party. They must be called out personally. It does no good to challenge their assertions when they are attacking personally. We must fight fire with fire ...

3. They especially need to be called out personally
when they suggest to advocate leaving Iraq is somehow cowardly and they have a personal history of draft deferments. ;)

5. good point!!!
I noticed when Brian Unger interviewed Murtha on KO recently, Murtha made the point that were discussing policy and all of a sudden the Republicans wanted to make personal attacks!

I say, if they want to get personal, let's get personal!!! Just like Murtha did!!

12. Murtha asking other rep if HE had been a Normandy was priceless!
Old rascal is tryin to show Congressional DEMS how to mix it up with the chicken hawks if they go personal when they are losing the argument. Noting that politicians hate to be ridiculed more than just about anything, find their weak spot and go for it! If they insist on making it personal, show them there is a huge cost.

19. yeah, that was great!!!
If they want to get into personal attacks, why not expose them as the chickens they are?

And did you notice.......when Murtha did that, he didn't even have to make a statement or an insult? He simply asked a couple of questions and let everyone reach their own conclusion!

13. Yep, I think that every time they say
"cut and run", we should refer to the chickenhawks who "ran and hid" when they had the opportunity to serve. I'm saying it every time I hear that phrase, because I'm sick of the Republicans being perceived as these huge patriots when most of the ones in power never wore a uniform, let alone saw active service.

14. They ran and hid. I think you're onto something there. Does
anyone have a source for finding out how many in the House and Senate have served in the military and whether or not they were in combat? It might make some interesting reading.

16. EXCELLENT! 'ran and hid' chicken hawks all for war now
that they don't have to worry about keeping their deferments up!

Ran and Hid Chicken Hawks - not one of them has a son or daughter in uniform in Iraq.

Ran and Hid Chicken Hawks full of opinions about war but no practical experience among them!

Ran and Hid Chicken Hawks with their contributions and gifts from contractors wanting DOD business.

Ran and Hid Chicken Hawks talking like they know what is really going on in Iraq while Al Frankin has been to Iraq more often than most, if not ALL of them!

Ran and Hid Chicken Hawks wasting time debating issues like Terri's Law, Marriage Bans and tax cuts for Paris Hilton while REAL problems are ignored.

Ran and Hid Chicken Hawks who accuse DEMs who served and have the decency to protest this illegal invasion of not supporting the troops and then give themselves perks and pay raises while troops go without proper armor.

Ran and Hid Chicken Hawks who won't conduct oversight of companies who get no-bid contracts to supply food and water to troops and serve up untreated water from a river that receives raw sewage.

Ran and Hid Chicken Hawks say war protesters hate America while they fail to uphold their oaths of office and let the bush administration dismantle the Bill of Rights, EPA, and allow the destruction of National Parks and Forests.

Ran and Hid Chicken Hawks - all talk, no real service to the nation - EVER!

It was great. Murtha outdid him at his own game. I'd like to see more dems use this tactic when they go on these shows instead of pretending the show isn't a one-sided attack fest for the rpubs.

Edited on Sun Jun-18-06 02:46 PM by Hubert Flottz
Jack Murtha is what you would call a natural born LEADER! His record backs that up. He fought for his country and he still isn't afraid to fight. He is exactly what we need LEADING the House if we can win it back. Our Hammer has some real steam! Their hammers are cheap imitations.

Edit...History will smile on Jack Murtha.

9. I am still bothered by their showing that clip of Rove
at the beginning of the interview, sawing that Murtha was like all Dems, that when the bullets
fly, they are ready to cut and run. Of course, Murtha lashed out in a pretty frank way, I don't
know if that will fly or if it will flop. But, I have been racking my brains, and I can't remember anyone in the White House ever saying such demeaning and crude stuff as what comes out
of Mr. Rove's mouth. I really don't recall 1 person and I don't recall anyone but the president
ever being trumpeted around the media like these individuals of the Bush administration are.
I remember everybody talking about Kennedy, his meeting, his comments but I don't remember any
other presidency where this crap happened.

They must have their ideas ridiculed and laughed at. Not personal attacks so much, but laugh at their ideas--because they are laughable.
