New US church leader says homosexuality no sin
Wow, someone who is putting the homosexual question in a theological context that makes sense and is supportable. The fundies aren't going to like this.

It seems to me that people who don't have a problem with homosexuality many times have degrees in studies that require a high level of intelligence. Those that have a problem with it usually have, well, a shotgun hanging in the back of their pick-up truck.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Newly elected leader of the U.S. Episcopal Church Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori said on Monday she believed homosexuality was no sin and homosexuals were created by God to love people of the same gender.

Jefferts Schori, bishop of the Diocese of Nevada, was elected on Sunday as the first woman leader of the 2.3 million-member Episcopal Church. the U.S. branch of the worldwide Anglican Communion. She will formally take office later this year.

Interviewed on CNN, Jefferts Schori was asked if it was a sin to be homosexual.

"I don't believe so. I believe that God creates us with different gifts. Each one of us comes into this world with a different collection of things that challenge us and things that give us joy and allow us to bless the world around us," she said.

"Some people come into this world with affections ordered toward other people of the same gender and some people come into this world with affections directed at people of the other gender."

Jefferts Schori's election seemed certain to exacerbate splits within a Episcopal Church that is already deeply divided over homosexuality with several dioceses and parishes threatening to break away.

It could also widen divisions with other Anglican communities, including the Church of England, which do not allow women bishops.

1. We can only hope...
...that our candidates say the same thing.

Will they have the courage of their convictions? I doubt it.

I know that you can support gay marriage and still get elected but so many Democratis candidates don't.

2. I've been meaning to post about a study of the animal kingdom.
Did you know that there are over 450 vertebrae species that exhibit homosexual activities? Then how can homosexuality possibly be a 'choice'?

5. They will surly burn in hell.
Oh wait, animals don't have souls, which is kind of odd in that the root word of animal, which is anima, is the greek word for soul. Kind of makes you wonder.

comment about that fact in the context of it not being something that is real unusual.

6. Soulforce puts out an excellent booklet on this by Mel White
He refutes all the passages in the Bible that are used to condemn homosexuality. It's far better written than anything I've read by the fundies to condemn homosexuality.

Check it out. A good group. I was arrested with them up at West Point.

7. She's a scientist, and a pilot, and her daughter is an Air Force pilot!
Husband's a retired mathematician.

"Jefferts Schori, who was raised a Roman Catholic and graduated in marine biology with a doctorate specialization in squids and oysters, supported the consecration of Gene Robinson of New Hampshire, the first openly gay bishop in more than 450 years of Anglican history. The 52-year-old bishop is married to Richard Schori, a retired theoretical mathematician. They have one daughter, Katharine Johanna, 24, a second lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force and a pilot like her mother."

doesn't have to work alongside of many conservative Christians in.

8. The anti-gay "religious" industry will immediately declare
that the Episcopal Church is not truly "christian". . .and then launch an unmitigated attack on this new bishop, calling her a disgrace to the heterosupremacist male notion that God created the earth to provide dominion to MEN whose peepees point in the religiously correct position. . .meaning upward toward heaven. . .hahaha.

Okay...I'm serious now. . .

9. The reaction from the Freeperville intelligentsia has already begun
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-religion/1652010/posts

And not being truly Christian is high on their list. You really have to feel sorry for these people.

11. hahaha. . .oh, I knew they'd drag that line out right away. . .
which is a perfect opening to accuse them of apparently not supporting the First Amendment right of freedom of religion. . .AND. . .then we should accuse them of attempting to establish an official national religion exclusively defined by themselves.

13. Well and that is what incenses me so about Christian Conservatives
i.e. Freepers, is the fact is they hate freedom in all it's forms. What they want is a theocracy where everything is controlled so that they can feel safe. Which is of course a false delusion. They are an affront to the principles on which America was founded on.

17. "I wonder how long until she throws out the other nine commandments."
This is a quote from a true christian.
Seems all members of FR, are of the church about Jesus, not the the Church of Jesus. I mean they're stuck in the Old Testament....and how many sitting there typing, have on clothing made of more than one fiber? .... Leviticus 19:19 "neither shall there come upon on you a garment made of two kinds of material."

The Bible says, "For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all."

18. I saw something in passing today on MSNBC where they asked
some Republican member of Congress to name the ten commandments and he could only get three. As he phrased it, "Don't lie, Don't steal, and Don't murder. And those three probably only came to him because that is SOP for the party these days.

"Thou shalt not be a homosexual", the third or fourth one? Maybe, that's why they want to have the Ten Commandments displayed everywhere....since they can't remember them!!

and that was his reply. This "congressman" has only sponsored 1 bill of his own and that was to allow the Commandments back in schools.
Colbert exposed him for the hyprocrit fool that he is.

21. hahaha...homosexuality isn't even in the commandments
This is just hilarious to watch them go over the edge - it also proves that they are about as studied a "christian" as a primitive native culture that never saw a white European preaching before. . .hahahahaha....

What a great opportunity to expose them for the faux "christians" they truly are. . .

"God told me to hate you."

hahahahahaha.

That should be the Republican campaign slogan. I think we should put it at the end of every campaign commercial we run this fall about the GOP.
