Iran: US opts for regime change, not force

WASHINGTON - In every statement on Iran, officials of the Bush administration routinely repeat the party line that "the president never takes any option off the table".

Despite the constant invocation of a possible military attack on Iran, however, a little-noticed section of the administration's official national-security strategy indicates that President George W Bush has already decided that he will not use military force to try to prevent Iran from going nuclear.

Instead, the administration has shifted its aim to pressing Iran to make internal political changes, based on the dubious theory that it would lead to a change in Iranian nuclear policy.

News coverage of the US National Security Strategy (NSS) issued on March 16 emphasized its reference to the doctrine of preemption. But a careful reading of the document reveals that its real message - ignored by the media - was that Iran would not alter its nuclear policy until after regime change had taken place.

4. Same thing that I was thinking.
Weren't we just going to remove Saddam from power and then leave because the country has embraced us and thrown flowers at us?

6. Lets go to war in Iran and stay that fucking course
The lemming monkeys need a new and improved reason to be "patriotic." But, as Madilyn Albright has cleverly implied, bush doesn't have much of a hankering to actually take on an opponent who really does have WMD.

8. The arrogance of this administration will never end............
who has appointed bushco the supreme exalted dictators of ALL COUNTRIES in the entire 'F'ing world. This morning on CNN a bushco mouthpiece was claiming the USA is the ONLY superpower in the world. I think someone in the WH better check, but the Chinese have us by the balls and all they have to do is squeeze, without firing a single shot. Just because our elections are rigged, this doesn't give bushco the privilege of installing his 'approved' leaders in other countries.
