Dems may be falling for a Rove trap asking for date certain deployment.
Don't know if this is true, but it's something I heard on AA last week. Somebody (can't remember who ), said that once Dems do this, and especially if a date certain Dem resolution is passed, * will leave sooner than that (date). Then the Pukes will trump the Dems' strong card on Iraq, and look like heroes. The AA guy said we shouldn't come up with a date, just say something along the lines of ASAP.

1. Either that....
or it will get all fucked up, there will be mass carnage, and the Dems will be blamed for forcing the issue.

2. There is no trap.. The war is shit and everyone
knows it... The majority of the people say they do not approve of this war... 70% of our soldiers polled by Zogby say the want the war to end... How do you spin the will of the people???

5. I think you missed my point.
I am certainly NOT auguring against getting out of Iraq. I hate that war and always have. I'm just bringing up something somebody said on AA that has been eating at me a bit. It does sound like a plausible Rovian plot. Getting out is the most important thing however it is done. Yet how cynical it would be if the Pukes got credit for ending the war when it will only happen through pressure in Congress from Dems.

8. I understand that, I am simply saying how
can Rove spin something that the majority of the people don't want? I think the people also see who is saying let's get them home, and who is saying stay the course...

Rove definitely is included in rhetoric of cut n run and the WMD's memo that just came out.. I will say he is spinning that part of it....

3. Moot. Despite the sound reasoning to get out,
it's not going to pass.

4. Resolution will never be passed with repugs in control.
And there's no way Bush is gonna pull troops out for any reason, even to show up Dems. The plan is to be in Iraq forever.

6. Gee - - then why build PERMANENT BASES and a FORTRESS EMBASSY, if they
were planning to leave before the DEms wanted?

Sometimes lefty opinionators can put up analysis as dumbed down as the right.

10. I hear ya.... we get inundated with so many idiot voices it's easy to
start questioning our own common sense. Good to say it out loud and pass it through the logic filter.

11. Are the bases and embassy related to the 130,000 troops there now?
Are you saying that we can't pull out our troops until these places are completed? I am not sure when they will be completed, do you know when they will be completed? The only project that is on time in Iraq is the humongous embassy. Figures huh? :eyes:
