3. and another talking point
the GOP is embracing failure. The Iraq war is a failure. If they want to embrace their failure that's fine. Just don't call it a war. Call it a misguided invasion with no plan, run by amateurs and mealy mouthed draft dodging politicians who've never sacrificed a single thing in their entire lives.

It's a failure not a war. Embrace it.

6. Agreed it is a huge mistake for the Repugs to embrace their failing war.
But really they might as well, they can't run from it. They're desperately trying to make the best of a bad situation, but they can't move public opinion on the subject. Thus they're driving the public into the arms of the Dems. Great for us, bad for them.

8. I think we had better wonder why, with 70+% of Americans opposed to
the Iraq war, the Bushites are embracing it.

Back before the invasion, when nearly 60% opposed the Iraq war, they shoved it down our throats anyway. Why?

Why, with 63% of Americans opposed to torture "under any circumstances," did we see our government utterly disgrace itself with the illegal policy of torturing prisoners anyway?

Why, with 90% of Americans concerned about the $9 trillion deficit, do we have billions and billions and billions more in deficit spending every month, primarily on war, often unaccountable, often a no-bid pigfest for Bushite companies like Halliburton?

Why would Bushites embrace the Iraq war if they weren't guaranteed 're-election' by Bushite corporations counting all the votes with 'TRADE SECRET,' PROPRIETARY programming code and virtually no audit/recount controls, in the new electronic voting system engineered by the biggest crooks in Congress, Tom Delay and Bob Ney?

I think that is why. And we had better smarten up about it--and address ourselves, at the state/local level (where we, the people, still have some potential influence) to restoring TRANSPARENT elections. We may have only a short window of opportunity before the boot comes down. Will history--if there is a history--say that our blindness at this juncture was the turning point? Or will it say that we woke up in time, and threw Diebold, ES&S and all election theft machines into 'Boston Harbor'?

You want endless war? Keep trusting Bushite corporations to count your votes under a veil of secrecy.
