I don't and I don't want anyone to tell me that I must do these things and that I have to hold a wine glass a certain way.

There's something to be said for dignified behavior and following simple etiquette in circumstances such as these. I don't care if you don't know how to hold a wine glass, but the President of the United States has no excuse.

There are practical reasons for it. If you're sipping a chilled white wine or champagne, holding the glass by the bowl will bring it down in temperature faster than if you hold it by the stem. That changes the way the wine tastes. If you drink your white wine at room temperature anyway it wouldn't matter.

That his wine glass actually does seem to have wine in it. Not a good thing for an alcoholic. And by the stupid look on his face he appears to have drank some too. But then again that could just be his normal stupid looking face.

I am sure they didn't serve him up a glass of $2.00 a bottle Maddog. This equates to being served by a world renown chef and asking for ketchup to put on your leg of lamb.

i don't hold them by the stem, either...the warmth of my hands warming the wine doesn't really matter to me.

I usually hold every wine glass like it's a brandy glass.
