9. claims he didn't see the Rep. from CA
requesting recognition.

I heard him call for the vote, and I heard the Aye vote - then he recognized the CA Rep.

Now they're voting.

3. As I said in the other thread: This is what fascism looks like.
It goes right in with making the minority party have their hearings in a basement storage room.

Now they are just flat out denying reality on what just happened on this vote... It's pathetic...

10. Steny Hoyer spoke out powerfully on that vote.
Don't know how you missed it. He was furious.

11. One must work over 525 years at minimum wage, paying OASDI/HI at 7.65%,
Edited on Thu Jun-22-06 02:39 PM by TahitiNut
... to earn through one's own labors as much as an heir can get in an instant, without working for a minute, tax-free!!!!

Over 525 years!

:grr: :grr:

On the other hand, just one owner can get 525 minimum wage workers worth twice what they're paid to work for him and can amass that much in a year ... but he'll at least have to pay some taxes. Gotta love them plantations.

12. It is such a lie they tell
such a whopper of a lie that the estate tax ie equivalent to paying taxes twice on the same income. That is bull shit. The money has changed hands. It is NEW income to the inheritee and it should be taxed. And it should be taxed at a higher percentage than income from sweat and toil. As Tahiti points out, this is handed to inheritees "without" their "working for a minute." Moreover, much of it has never been taxed as they claim, because of various methods of avoiding doing that while alive.

13. It's a false meme that contorts thinking.
It subliminally asserts that it's the money that's taxed rather than the transfer. It's a "have you stopped beating your wife?" fallacy - incorporating a totally false presumption.

It's appalling to me that people, even on DU, buy into this and totally forget that what we're looking at is the transfer of wealth ... without labor, without tax (on unrealized captial gains), and without any kind of equity. The corruption in this way of thinking is despicable.

14. It's like saying....
...that sense the company you work for paid taxes on the money that they pay you with you therefore don't have to pay taxes on it. I wonder what would happen if I sent a letter to the IRS stating that my income was already taxed?
