How can the Democrats Govern Even if They Win? (Big If)
I am really disheartened after today. If this country had a parliamentary democracy I am confidant that the Democratic party would probably be about 3-4 seperate parties. Instead we are all crammed together and can't agree on ANYTHING. Today the House passed an estate tax cut with support from 31 Democrats. 9 Democrats in the house voted against a minimum wage increase. Somewhere around 6 Dem Senators voted with the GOP on the war today. 13 voted for the Kerry-Feingold bill. We have no concensus on healthcare which is why we always use bland vague phrases like "quality affordable healthcare".

What is with our party??? Even if voter disastisfaction is high enough to bring us into power (I believe that is the only thing that CAN do it) What the fuck will our party be able to agree on and push? Our party may have moved away from some of it's liberal stances in the 90's but for fucks sake at least Clinton held it together and got some things through. I am just ready to throw my arms up and give up. I know that is what the GOP wants which is the only reason I am not.Does anyone else just feel really down about this or am I being too defeatist?

1. Something that might give you hope
Go to www.iwtnews.com

We have to build alternatives in the culture, strong alternatives, before those can slip into the political spectrum, I think.

Another thing that might help is that the most progressive member of the Senate will take office after these elections, Independent socialist Bernie Sanders.

3. Thousands of people are working on that project
HUGE and famous activists and authors across the world. I feel like it may break through to the mainstream. It's very exciting.
