Why Edwards SHOULDN'T be considered for Pres in '08 ...
.... because we need him to serve as Vice Pres for 4 to 8 years first.. we'd lose him too quick if was made President first. Of course I'd fully support him if he was nominated, but it would just serve us better if he was a VP running mate first. I'm greedy... I want him around longer than just one, possibly two, terms as President.

Mr. Edwards is an eloquent and articulate speaker and it really stands out when you hear him. You can hear the passion and sincerity in his voice. Most of all, he speaks from the heart. Most of the time he speaks he doesn't have to keep his eyes turned to a prepared speech in front of him... at least not that I've noticed anyways.

Just my honest opinion... how do you feel about this?

1. I want him for prez
but this is definitely an argument I can agree with. John Edwards for 16 years! What a golden age it would be!

4. A golden age indeed!
It would also give him more time to implement his war on poverty. I just heard him talking about a 30 year plan to end poverty... what better way to spearhead that than being in the White House for 16 years?

3. We need him NOW. He would have such wide ranging appeal
at the top of the ticket.

But I follow your argument. Gore/Edwards works for me.

7. I agree with you - I want him any way we can get him. There's
just something about the whole family that makes me feel warm and fuzzy all over, and I think he's just what America needs after the debacle we've been through.

8. Compelling but...
we can't ask him to be second chair again after making him suffer because of Kerry's bad campaign.

Let him be Pres twice. Then he can go earn his Peace Prize like Jimmy Carter. -JJ

10. so in that line of thinking...
every Dem that voted for the IWR would never deserve a nomination? Dems who voted for the IWR did so due to lies fed to them by Bush and his criminal cabal. Had they had ahold of the truth, I don't think anyone would have voted for it.

Some people need to let go of the past and look forward to the future. Now that the truth is known many Dems have spoken up and spoken out. Quit trying to keep the party divided over old BS and work for unity in the future.

16. There were Dems who believed IWR was a fool-hardy move
That alone belies your statement that they were merely guilty of believing the lies. Kucinich and others called Bush's bluff, but others did not. Joe Wilson shot to hell the biggest story Bush Co. was riding on to sell the war, and he was repaid by having his wife outed.

Should a Dem who did vote for IWR not get the nomination? I would say he or she shouldn't if that person does not recognize the mistake for what it was. Otherwise, the person's record as a whole should be weighed.

11. I think if he had led the ticket in 2004, it would have been harder
for the election to be stolen, i.e., won more of a majority.

he might take he veep position

but if he runs, I'd have to strongly consider him for the top of the ticket.

18. Maybe
I liked him

his rhetoric got a little old, the whole 2 Americas

then I read about him going to the Bildergerger's conference and wonder if he isn't just another corporate whore type Dem.

He didn't sound like it in the last election
