This Florida Terrorist Hoax is decidedly Racist

First I have to qualify my rant by saying that I don't believe a goddamned thing they say on the news and from the white house.

Look at this crap, 7 black radical's faces plastered all over the t.v. screen. The whole story popped up at a suspicious time, out of nowhere, fully developed and ready for public consumption.

Hysteria, paranoia, division, polarization and above all racism is on full display here.

I know of a whole slew of white racist crazies right here in Kansas, Christian fundamentalists, klansmen, survivalists, and possible future terrorists, why is no one rounding them up? They know right where they are.

This is race baiting, religion baiting, and fear baiting and I"m not buying it for one second.

Most are Haitian descent, but one was born in Miami to parents from the Dominican Republic.

It seems that most came from very strong Catholic families. Working class families that put a lot of faith in their religion. The men were practicing a brand of religion that used elements from Christianity, Judaism and Islam.

They strike me as typical Miami twentysomething young men trying to find themselves in a city of contrasts. With one foot in their parents' culture, the other foot in American culture, they were living in a ghetto that was notorious for riots in the 1980s. A ghetto that is a short drive to some of the most luxurious houses in the country (Star Island).

Their "cult leader", if you want to call him that, owned a small contracting business where he employed some of the other men. In fact, they were arrested at a job site in Miami.

They allegedly plotted to blow up the Sears tower, and they happen to be black.

We all know full well in the "post 9-11" world that if any group, regardless of race or background, tries to obtain explosives to blow up towers it's going to make the news. And their mugs shots are going to be in the papers. If they happen to be black, you are saying it is racist to publish the pictures at all? Are you saying the media has a moral duty to suppress the story just because they happen to be black?

The media and most of the public see them as would-be terrorists, but you see them only as "blacks"...Sounds a bit racist to me. It seems that you want to infantilize African-Americans, and give them the same kind of but-they-don't-know-any-better pass society gives juvenile offenders and the mentally disabled when it comes to crime.

I think the race side of this story is the fact that the accused feel so detached from American society that they think that they have to destroy it. It is because the republicans have created such a growing divide between rich and poor that this type of desperation and despair exists at home in America.
