Al Gore Gets Rock Star Welcome at Nashville Book Signing
I wish I could have made it to Gore's book signing here in Nashville. Roughly 800 people jammed into the bookstore to get a glimpse of the rock star!

According to the store manager, it was the largest crowd they've seen since an appearance by Johnny Cash.

Gore's book - An Inconvenient Truth - sold out before he arrived. It moves to #2 tomorrow, and next Sunday will move to #1 on the New York Times bestseller list.

There were actually two protesters at the book store - they were from HillaryNow!

How strange is that?

"Gray-haired women crawled headfirst under tables lined with books Friday in Green Hills, doing anything to get a glimpse of former Vice President Al Gore at his book signing.

Pandemonium in the periodicals can best describe the book signing at Davis-Kidd Booksellers in The Mall at Green Hills. About 800 people tucked into every cranny of the store for a chance to see Gore and get his book, "An Inconvenient Truth," signed by the former vice president.

Gore's book, which addresses climate change and the environment, had Davis-Kidd employees compensating for the large crowds by creating groups of people to get their books signed in rounds.

There were 22 groups of 25 people at noon.

Shortly after, shrill screams erupted from the crowd. Al Gore was in the building."

8. Maybe someone should ask Hillary to contact her supporters and
tell them to know off the bullshit. Then she can find out for us if they really are her supporters.

As much as I don't like Hillary, and as wackey as her 'fans' can be, I just don't swallow this one. Not without some verification that this group is not a KKKarl put up.

9. Good question
The HillaryNow group has received a lot of press from Nashville's daily, The Tennessean (nicknamed the Southern Baptist Times). I believe they are based in Florida. It's strange for them to hold a protest against someone who is not even a candidate. But these are strange times.

33. There's a big thread about the planned demonstration
and about the group putting it on. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x2693948

They sound like either a RW front group, or else totally nuts, or maybe both. If they are for real, I would hope that Hillary would let them know that that sort of behavior is unacceptable.

I'm taking that as yet another sign that Al needs to run in 2008.

Coulter's book got to the number one spot because rightwing orgs bought copies and gave them away. That's their sop.

Problem is, they're pretty far away. Still, I'm ready to drive the miles if I must just to see it.

I seriously can't wait to read the book. There is a post out here somewhere about his book signing (last night/yesterday).
