In September 2000, I predicted that, if Junior were somehow elected, we'd be in a shooting war in the Middle East before the end of 2001. I placed Afghanistan and Iraq at the top of my list for the battlegrounds. I predicted that the "war" would have a somewhat plausible rationale, precipitated by some event that would offer cover for the military response. I noted that I believed all the "Wag The Dog" claims during the Clinton Administration were merely playing a "Cry Wolf" desensitization game - making such a claim sound like "just more of the same tired shit" to John Q. Public.

I posted this prediction on Usenet - on an AtHome newsgroup.

I was a LIHOP constituent one full year before 911.

I predicted we'd be in a shooting war because most people recognized Stupid was an illegitimate president and that he'd have to trump up some excuse for a war to consolidate his power.

People will always rally around the worst leaders in time of crisis.

Then 9/11 fell into their laps.
