How will history treat Bush? You are the historian
Here is how the first paragraph may look:

George W. Bush who came to the presidency in the aftermath of the disputed election of 2000 promising to be "A uniter, not a divider" presided over the two of the worst disasters in United States History-9/11 and the destruction caused by Hurricane Katrina. His response to the first disaster was to curtail civil liberties under the guise of the Patriot Act while authorizing illegal wiretaps of U.S. Citizens and organizations. His administration's response to the second disaster (Hurricane Katrina)was slow and inadequate and hurt his credibility with US voters, already tarnished due to the U.S. led war in Iraq, which was later found to be based on faulty or doctored intelligence.

How would you write it?

10. Counterfeit Courage.
The man has the atomic football at his fingertips, yet he is afraid to walk down a typical small town street in his own country, much less REALLY drink a beer with anyone who was stupid enough to have really voted for him.

Counterfeit compassion, everything about the man is bogus.

Edited on Fri Dec-30-05 01:49 PM by nadinbrzezinski
some history on other highly disputed elections....

But here you go

George W Bush was elected in a highly disputed election in 200. The election was decided by an unprecedented decision by the United States Supreme Court that engaged in a decision that current students of US Law consider to be an activist decision, for there was no precedent for the Federal Court to get involved in State Electoral Matters. The President promised to be a uniter, but instead polarized the nation to the brink of civil war (we don't know yet whether it will go hot).

President Bush also carried on with uncharacteristic me worry attitude. On September 11, 2001 the country was attacked by terrorists, and the President remained seated in a classroom readying My Pet Goat. It is well known that Air Force One is equipment with enough communications equipment to allow the President to take control in case of Nuclear war, hence a terrorist attack should have been easy. Yet the President remained seated. He then proceeded to vow that he would capture Osama Bin Ladin, who we suspect died from Renal failure a free man some years back, but instead involved the nation in a war of choice against Iraq.

The War further polarized the nation, which quickly sank into a new fascist state, where the tools of the state were used to spy on US Citizens, against all US Law. The war also saw the US abandon its commitment to International treaties and other obligations, because this President claimed that all changed after September 11. The Facade finally fell when the City of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast was ravaged by Hurricane Katrina, and a lack of response by the Federal Government. It is at this point that Americans began to realize the horror of who they had as President....

(Now the rest is pure speculation)

During the hot summer of 2006 the American people finally rose and demanded that the President and his VP resign. They both refused and in fact the President signed an Executive Order canceling Posee Comitatus. The Army was ordered to break down any demonstration and martial law was imposed. Some commanders obeyed, while others put down their arms and joined the demonstrators. During that hot summer there were confrontations, arrest and summary courts, as well as executions. When the fall came, DC was surrounded by an enraged populace. Once the man was arrested though, he was not summarily executed but turned over to the world court for war crimes. US Troops came home from around the world, and US Citizens realized how deep the damage was. This started a new isolationist period in US History, as the people knew they had to rebuild the country. It also started a new period where the very rich were forced to leave the country for good, as they refused to pay the taxes needed to restore the Nation.

18. And now the truth
The visionary Bush with the direct aid of 'Our Father Which Art In Heaven' did secure for us his children the blessings of oil forever ever after.

Without which we would be cold hungry and destitute just like the people he stole it from. Oil that is.

And we will fire up the furnaces crank up the SUVs and enjoy life ever lasting.

All hail the good life.

Some might think this to be sarcastic, but I for one wonder?

22. President GWB (rep. 2001-2006) may be the most divisive
president in the history of the United States. Ironically campaigning as "a uniter not a divider", his first broken promise to the American people actually occurred BEFORE he took his first oath of office, in the countries most controversial election ever held. His legacy was sealed when he lost the popular vote, but won the electoral vote in a controversial Supreme Court decision, immediately dividing this great nation in such a bitter fashion, no hopes of unity were ever to be achieved. After the nation was attacked in September, 2001, the President initially appeared to show strong leadership skills and for a small amount of time, appeared to unite the country against a vaguely worded enemy called "terrorism". This however was not enough to feed the Texas sized megalomaniac's thirst for power. Under the guise of a "declared war", Mr. Bush systematically removed civil liberties, destroyed the government treasury, and isolated the US from a majority of the rest of the world. Under his watch new world alliances were formed, nuclear weapons proliferated and the governments of Japan and China quietly built super economies while bankrolling the continued operations of the US government. During his presidency there were an unprecedented amount of natural disasters that affected the nation, including hurricanes, fires, earthquakes and mudslides, that unfortunately destroyed many Americans homes and businesses causing a further divide between financial classes effectively eliminating the middle class as it was known and creating only the Rich and Poor classes. National response to these tragedies was woefully lacking due to the inept leadership Mr. Bush had in place and the lack of money available to help restore great cities and towns. During his Presidency oil prices soared to record levels and oil companies made record profits. Bush's personal family gained great wealth during this time.

In 2005, the near dictatorship began to unravel, as more and more lesser government officials began to reveal instance after instance of illegal acts that were being routinely sanctioned under the direct authority of the "Bush Cheney Rumsfeld" cabal. In 2006, the Democratic party successfully gained a majority in both the house and Senate after several prominent Republican members in both houses were indicted and convicted of various illegal acts involving money laundering, accepting bribes, insider trading and voting irregularities. Mr. Bush and Mr. Cheney were both impeached, convicted in the Senate of high crimes and removed from office. Nancy Pelosi, speaker of the House, was sworn into office and her first official act was to assist the UN with the prosecution of these two individuals at the Hague for war crimes. They are currently incarcerated next to Milosevic, where they spend their days swapping torture stories.

25. You forgot something.
His response to the first disaster was to curtail civil liberties under the guise of the Patriot Act while authorizing illegal wiretaps of U.S. Citizens and organizations
and to use it as an excuse to invade and occupy Iraq, which had nothing to do with 9/11.
