What if there were a way to record & verify every vote?
I know I'm being simplistic here, but what if you voted on a machine, got a printed paper receipt, with a verification number that you could later check against the machine's records or whatever?

I mean, if we can put a man on Venus surely we can come up with a way to make sure our voted isn't being ignored, not counted, or switched or otherwise tampered with.

Does the electoral college make this impossible? Impractical?

I know even paper absentee ballots are sometimes not counted or discounted by right wing vote cheaters. No system is perfect I guess but our present day system is a mix of 1776 tech and 2006 tech and it SUCKS big time.

I'm getting desperate for ideas, radical ideas to fight election fraud.

1. the first thing we have to do upon winning a majority is a ballot
initiative to ensure all votes are counted as they are cast

2. Of course it could be done! Our financial institutions seem to
have it down. I guess we value our money, but not our vote.

Where there is a will there is undoubtedly a way. Why measures to ensure our democracy, our vote, are not going forward only speaks to the vast reach of the abuse of political power.

3. Well, let's see...
We currently can record and verify every single financial transaction that hits a hundred million bank accounts. I think a vote once or twice a YEAR could be manageable.

5. We HAVE the technology.
Just as you so succinctly pointed out. If they an do THAT, they can track the votes.

6. Not only that...
.... but it would be technologically quite easy to include on the paper receipt a "code" that "contains" the voters name and every vote he cast, encrypted with some other random data so basically the receipt could not be forged.
