Condi: Worst Secretary of State Ever?

I don't know enough about all the SoSs who came before her, but I know enough to state that she's doing an awful job. If the State Department was anemic under Powell, it's practically comotose under Condi.

Her efforts re Iran and N. Korea have have been spectacularly unsuccessful, and the administration policy toward Israel and Palestine is at least in part responsible for the disasterous state of affairs there.

This administration's scorn for all things diplomatic, and slavish devotion to militarism is reflected in Rice's stewardship of the State Department. She deserves far more criticism than she gets.

And that's quite an achievement on her part.

She's the worst SoS in my lifetime.

That hardly passes as diplomacy. Aren't SoSs supposed to be highly sophisticated diplomats who are able to resolve conflicts through dialogues and peaceful means? Aren't they also supposed to be able to enhance communication and reparté between two countries. the woman ain't no diplomat. the woman suffocates communication between two countries--and the rest of america as far as i am concerned--the woman doesn't like to serve tea and crumpets or whatever else needs to be serve to increase reparté between two countries. the woman is just as unfriendly as unfriendly gets. she fits right in with the butchers--i mean, bushes.

I think everyone from Chucklenuts on down thought the hard work would be getting elected than they could coast for 4/8 years before hitting the golf courses and lecture circuits. I don't think any of them had any idea they would actually have to work. Just let bombs and the free market do their work and everything will be fine. They had KKKarl and the PNAC to light the way to fast, easy world domination then they could laugh all the way to the bank and the college campuses. Clueless boobs. Eight years is a lifetime when in the hands of total f&ckups.

Condi's incompetent, granted, but unlike Kissinger, she's not a recognized war criminal throughout most of the world (yeah, yeah. I know. Plenty of people will say, "Yes she is!" But, I ask you, can she still travel to any country she wants? Yes. Can Kissinger? No.). And unlike Haig, she's not a would-be emperor.

It depends on how you define worst. Kissinger has Cambodia, and that puts him in the running in most definitions of worst if genocide is the most important factor in measuring worst. Powell of course rivals foreign ministers of the Ribbentropp type in spouting obvious lies in a self-serious way.

Condi is incompetant and clearly out of her depth, but I'm not sure that she is as bad as Kissinger and Powell.

One thing for sure is that no Republican administration in history has ever produced a George Marshall.

One needs to go back almost to Seward or at least to Hay to approximate a decent Repuke Secretary of State. Of course the in nineteenth century the Repuke party was a very different animal than the modern Repuke party.
