Reality Check: Gore, RE 2008 - "No really means NO."
Just wanted to remind everyone, he really is not going to run and has repeatedly said so. There are 300 Million people in the US and we should be able to find someone else worth running for the presidency.

3. Wasn't that "No really means NO" quote from Grover Norquist?
It was him talking about Gore at the Wednesday meeting.

Al Gore Says 'No' Really Means 'No'

http://www.usnews.com/usnews/politics/whispers/articles/060116/16whisplead.htm

Al Gore Says 'No' Really Means 'No'
Despite topping some presidential preference polls and efforts by fans to get him to run again, former Veep Al Gore says he really doesn't want to. He's even got conservatives convinced. Grover Norquist, a strong Bush ally and president of Americans for Tax Reform, hosted Gore last week at a conservative meeting and tells us the 2000 presidential candidate "kept talking about himself as a recovering politician." Instead, he's channeling his passion into Issue No. 1: global warming. "This," says Norquist, "is what he says he's doing. He's not running for office."

14. I'd take that with a big 'ol grain of salt. Norquist does have a
teeny agenda, you know.

15. Yes. Grover Norquist said it and "Washington Whispers"
"reported" it.

4. sorry.
but i just can't accept that.

i think if we the people ask gore to lead us, he would do it in a heartbeat. he truly cares about what is happening to this country.

i also think that this is too early for anyone to announce, including gore.

we'll see, won't we!

13. I agree, ldf, he even intimated it in his speech when he talked about
We the People. Despite the diverging viewpoint on the left, if we could rally around Gore, he would HAVE to. After today's speech, he has my support 110%!

22. Damn straight. We'll drag 'im into the Oval Office, if necessary.
We can do this the same time we're dragging -fer-brains OUT of the Oval Office, and take care of it all in one trip. We'll make a day of it.

6. Nuh, uh...He'd run if we DRAFTED him
with HUGE numbers of supporters. We are 80,000+ strong in DU alone. We 80,000+ could each take a Draft petition, get signatures and have millions of supporters to draft Gore. I think, in that case, he would run. He knows how desperate a situation this country is in. He'd run...FOR HIS COUNTRY. He would. :)

We could join forces with

Progressive Democrats

Moveon.org

True Majority

People for the American Way

Air America Radio

NARAL

NOW

Planned Parenthood

Environmental organizations

and we could get this honorable man to run. We could do it. I know it.

18. : ) Either one...Gore or Clark or
Gore/Clark ticket. I don't think Gore would go for VP again so Wes would have to be VP. I could vote for that ticket! :7 Gore whomped ass today. He said what has needed to be said for the last 5+ years.

Is Wes going to run again? Have we heard?

21. He won't announce, if he runs, until after 2006
That's his main concern right now, getting Dems elected in 2006. He won't be anybody's VP, I don't expect, and it wouldn't make a bit of sense for a seasoned commander in chief to be presiding over the Senate, in my opinion. I would like Al Gore to be doing what he should have been doing leading up to 2004, Election Reform. I would like Kerry to be doing, leading up to 2008, the very same thing.

That's my call, Incog, FWIW. :pals:

8. Ok...
...how about this.

DLC Candidate: NO MEANS NO. I do not want one, not with ham, or with spam. NO.

Milquetoast: NO MEANS NO.

But Gore, I'd vote for him, again, proudly.

9. He will if he thinks it's his Duty to Run. Lacking a candidate that
catches fire ....I think he will find it his "duty." I think he will only accept a draft. He won't "traditionally" declare. He's very media savy given what he's been through and will not want to go through the cat calls and muck.

24. Since when has that ever meant anything?
Sorry, I know Gore is an honest man, and he probaby has no intention of running again. But...things do change, and perhaps he could be persuaded to do so.

28. In poltics, people often change their minds.
Mario Cuomo was all set to seek the nomination in 1992. His plane was fueling on the tarmac in Albany, preparing for the flight to New Hampshire to announce for the presidency.

He withdrew after speaking on the telephone with the Governor of Arkansas, who went on to become the president.

As the Beatles put it, "You say goodbye, and I say hello."

President Gore may change his mind. If he does, his support will be considerable.

29. NOBODY is going to say they are running before the 2006 elections.
Not Al, or Hillary, or Feingold, or Wes Clark, or anyone ...... except Joe Biden. Now Joe, he wants it so bad that he's willing to say so now. Anything to get on the radar.

Forget it, Joe.
