Senator Al Gore and Ollie North
I saw this repuke e-mail that is going around about Gore and Osama bin Laden during the Iran Contra senate hearings where oliver north was describing his 60,000 dollar security system and why he did it. It was because he was scared for his family by this terrorist (bin laden) and how Gore couldn't pronounce the name and how we shouldn't worry about it. It was typical "slander" haha against Gore and Clinton and they said there was a clip of it, but did not seem to be present in the e-mail (true to republican fashion, never anything to back up their claims at the time) but i was wondering if this were true and if someone could prove it to me or debunk. Will never change my opinion of Gore either way, he is a great man and least of all a human which i cannot say for this pResident or his administration.

8. You're welcome.
There are some good Republicans (the old-fashioned kind that're called "cloth coat Republicans"). They're not that easy to find nowadays, though.

2. There is a link on snopes.com that talks about it.
I know becasue this was a mass email I got from a co-worker and had no problem hitting "reply all" (to all of my co-workers) to correct the mistakes in that stupid email.

3. First off - IT NEVER HAPPENED.
Edited on Mon Jan-16-06 05:33 PM by blm
North's illegal activities were uncovered by John Kerry. Freeps forget that Gore was for Reagan's Contra policy. Or they never knew it at the time. Gore turned against the policy after the extent of their dirty dealings was unmasked.

Second - North mentioned Abu Nidal. Freeps are too dumb to know that while North was testifying about Abu Nidal, the Bush family was making BIG MONEY business deals with the Bin Laden family.

6. Even Oliver North has debunked this email
North's post is offline now, but it's reproduced in the Snopes.com article.

I usually reply with this very good article debunking it from Townhall.com, since Townhall.com is a major conservative site:

9. That's going around AGAIN? How many times do we have to debunk
the same lies? This was going around during 2000.

I'm glad someone already posted the Snopes link so I don't have to look it up AGAIN!

10. It's been going around since AFTER 9-11. No Repub talked about terror
until 9-11. Before that they were complaining that Clinton spent TOO much time on terror. AFTER 9-11 they lied and accused Clinton of neglect when they were the ones guilty of neglect and incompetence.
