She got money her husband stole - while she's probably going to be in trouble for hte next couple of years, there's every reason to expect she will come out ahead.

So we are totally justified in being cruel and hateful to her. And those who think this makes us look bad should remember that honesty is more imprtant than shallow political concerns. It's not like our failure to successfully push our programs forward hurts anybody.

If she is benefiting from the misery her husband caused why shouldn't she suffer?

ANd at any rate, our hatred and cruelty don't amount to very much. Should Ken Lay's widow visit DU I imagine she would be upset, but it doesn't seem likely tha she would.

When she shows some compassion for the people made miserable and destitute by her husband's greed and felonious acts, I'll consider giving her a bit of a pass.

In other words, when she starts paying out.

Besides, what does one hope to accomplish by being this way toward a person whose husband has died?

She aided, abetted and enabled. She has done nothing to salve the suffering he caused. I owe her neither sympathy, nor pity, nor respect.

I'm not usually this harsh, but the crime is not usually this big.

People who steal a hundred bucks get sent to jail and have to make restitution. Just because her husband stole a billion bucks, and she enjoyed the fruits of that, she should not be the respected widow, if indeed he is dead?

The Enron collapse to her meant she had to part with one of her luxury homes while the people her husband lied to lost their pensions and livlihoods. The woman showed no compassion for them. She has been living off the proceeds of her husband's misdeeds so yes, she is a "non-criminal beneficiary of a crime."

Yeah, it's sad she lost her husband and I don't wish sadness and grief and loss on anyone. Behind the haughtiness and "Let them eat cake" attitude, there is a real person who has experienced a profound personal loss. I feel for her.

Sympathy and justice are different things, it's like loving the person but hating the behavior. If justice were to be served here, I think she should be able to keep enough money to have a reasonably comfortable living (as defined by average people, not the wealthy) and the rest given back to the people it was stolen from.
