4. even NBC Nightly News
Edited on Tue Jan-17-06 01:11 AM by ginnyinWI
They showed an actual clip. And Blitzer had a feature on the third hour of Situation Room. More time than Matthews gave it, which surprised me. Olberman had it too. Lehrer on Newshour ignored it, as did CBS! :grr:

How I covered all these shows: I have a DVR with a nice FF feature. ;)

12. Oh, he said something about
not liking the way Gore was saying what he said. Like it wouldn't be effective or something. Otherwise I liked the coverage, and he had a guy from Newsweek commenting on it too.

14. Here's the statement from Olbermann that got everyone nuts:
from the transcript —

OLBERMANN: As for what followed, well, no one would say Mr. Gore has become a great speaker. He has definitely become a more forceful one, ripping into the president on a host of constitutional issues, charging him with, quote, “breaking the law repeatedly and persistently,” and calling on Congress to launch an investigation into NSA wiretapping, since the legislative body can‘t be trusted to do any investigating itself.

8. Gore said a hell of a lot more than is covered
in these 'soundbite news' reports.

Read the transcript here: http://rawstory.com/news/2005/Text_of_Gore_speech_0116.html

I'm waiting to see some proper in-depth coverage.

11. The RNC:
Tracey Schmitt, a spokeswoman for the Republican National Committee, shot back: “Al Gore’s incessant need to insert himself in the headline of the day is almost as glaring as his lack of understanding of the threats facing America. While the president works to protect Americans from terrorists, Democrats deliver no solutions of their own, only diatribes laden with inaccuracies and anger.”

Gee, imagine an American angry that the President of the United States is violating his Oath of Office and trying to surplant the Constitution with RNC Party Rule.
