"Never Again" Gone Mad In Israel
http://www.commondreams.org/views06/0712-25.htm

In the name of forcing the release of a single soldier, Israel has seized members of a democratically elected government; bombed its interior ministry, the prime minister's offices and a school; threatened another sovereign state (Syria) with a menacing overflight; dropped leaflets from the air, warning of harm to the civilian population if it does not "follow all orders" of the Israel Defense Forces; loosed nocturnal "sound bombs" under orders from the Israeli prime minister to "make sure no one sleeps at night in Gaza"; fired missiles into residential areas, killing children; and demolished a power station that was the sole generator of electricity and running water for hundreds of thousands of Gazans.

</snip>

And to top it all off, we're paying for this aggression. US funding of this brutal state has to end.

1. And this was written before their brutality in Lebanon, no?
Unfortunately the Israeli hawk wing of supposedly peaceful DU will be here any minute now

3. You were right, here they come...
desperately trying to convince themselves that the Israeli aggression is somehow justified. Sad.

2. The author of this article says:
"For every crude Qassam rocket falling harmlessly, far from its target, dozens, sometimes hundreds of shells rain down on the Palestinians."

That is not what happened. Those "crude harmless" rockets killed people. They did not fall harmlessly. Not at all.
harmless rockets.
little harmless rockets.
right as Israel begins to give them land.
And you are surprised?

4. 8 people have been killed by them in the past 5 years
They are nearly harmless. Mostly a joke.

Meanwhile almost weekly for the past 6 months Israel has killed Palestinians (about 80 in all).

It wasn't until Israel shelled a beach that Hamas called off the ceasfire and attacked SOLDIERS (while Israel was openly targetting civilian areas, and is now in Lebanon doing exactly that).

Why don't the Olmert apologists ever mention that? Or do Arab lives not count?

5. Ding ding ding! We have a WINNER...
Or do Arab lives not count?

You've figured it out!

In our world, there's "us" and "them."

People of Northern European ancestry are "us." People of Latino ancestry are "them."

People of African ancestry are very "them," unless they're multimillionare entertainers or athletes.

Asians are "us" or "them," depending on whether they can out-do us at being "us."

Of course, in the old days, the Northern Europeans who happened to be Irish were "them." And almost all Mediterranian people were "them," especially the Italians.

But nobody was more "them" than the Jews.

How times have changed!

Now, the ultimate "them" are Muslims. And/or Arabs (the two aren't always synonymous). Except for those Arabs/Muslims with lots of oil wealth, a royal title, and/or membership in the Carlyle Group. Those are "us," even if they seem like "them." But the everyday Arab or Muslim without millions in the bank? Sinister, faceless hordes...not really like people at all. F*ck "them!"

Which brings us to the current situation:

The Israelis are "us." The Palestinians are "them."

And "they" don't count. Not a bit.

:-(
