Elmo's Dad Goes To War; DVD Made For Kids

AP - Sesame Street is giving military families a free copy of its new DVD that deals with parents' deployments, and is designed to help real families cope when a soldier is sent off to war. (July 13)

1. When I was growing up, it was Big Bird and...
...the Cookie Monster telling me how to safely cross the street or be nice to my neighbors. Now its Elmo telling kids how to deal with a parent being sent away to die for nothing. What's next, Ernie and Bert in matching flag-draped coffins?

The sickness just keeps getting worse and worse. It's in our bones now.

2. I agree. It's a subject Sesame Street wouldn't have touched.

It goes along with the general movement to the Right being taken by PBS, NPR and CPB. Sad what the repugs have done to public broadcasting in this country.
