Politicians Want Morrissey Investigated (for animal rights comments)
Politicians Want Morrissey Investigated
Over comments about Animal Rights attacks

by Daniel Melia
1/16/2006

A number of politicians and bodies attacked by animal rights activists are calling for former Smiths front man Morrissey to be investigated over his comments supporting attacks by animal rights campaigners.

...He said: “I support the efforts of the Animal Rights Militia in England and I understand why fur-farmers and so-called laboratory scientists are repaid with violence - it is because they deal in violence themselves and it's the only language they understand - the same principals that apply to war.”

Conservative MP and Shadow Home Affairs spokesman David Davis has attacked the comments and told the Sunday Times: “Any incitement to violence is obviously wrong in a civilised society and should be investigated by the police."

Morrissey is yet to respond about the critcism towards his comments.

1. Because of course.. there's nothing else that needs investigation...
in the UK these days. Not the undercover special forces involved in Iraqi civilian bombings, not the death of David Kelly, not the shooting of Jean Charles de Menezes in the London tube. Nope, it's Morrissey that gets an investigation at the taxpayer's expense.

Quite a set of priorities, there.

4. David Davies is a hypocrite
“Any incitement to violence is obviously wrong in a civilised society and should be investigated by the police."

so why do you continue to support the war Mr. Davies? maybe Scotland Yard should start sniffing around the House of Commons.

cool pic btw.

6. Scotland Yard should stay the hell away from the Commons.
And shouldn't wiretap MP's either.

My two cents.

5. I'm with this Morrissey guy
all the way!

Sounds like he has a conscience, which is far more than a lot of people have.

I don't believe in groups condoning a certain level of violence, though; there are limits to which we need to push the envelope to make people aware of the horrors of animal torture and experimentation. However, having said that, I think he is on the right track--the louder his voice, the more attention the whole of animal rights will get, and perhaps less horror will be the end result. Forces in the past have helped England get rid of a large portion of the fur trade, and the RSPCA has closed down many other groups, but here in the U.S.A., animal rights is still a dirty word, unfortunately.

Morrisey is now considered a terrorists. This whole Patriot Act drives
Me even more crazier than usual. The new Patriot Act makes people like Morissey Terrorists. If you remember the new revision of the Patriot Act made PETA, and groups like the ELF Environmental Liberation Front Terrorists. If you damage property in the name of one of these groups you will be arrested as a Terrorist.
We no longer live in America, we live in a Dictatorship.
