1. Why?
Let them pay their own legal fees.

If they win a civil court judgement, which will probably result in a big monetary award, do you think they will share it with those who donated to their cause?

I've never asked for donations whenever I needed to use a lawyer for anything. Those two are rich.

2. Do what you think is right, but remember, they don't have to do anything.
They could just sit on their backsides and collect their checks and not taint any of it with years of nasty legal battles which ultimately will benefit all of us. You realize how expensive it is to have a lawsuit, not to mention all of the specialists and investigators they'll need to do it right. Should they take a vow of poverty? Why should we hold it against the Wilsons that they've been faced with this kind of dilemma? If you don't want to donate, I certainly understand, but I respectfully disagree with your assertions.

From their website:

"Should the civil action result in a payment to Joe and/or Valerie Wilson that is in excess of all costs associated with their legal activities, the equivalent of all monies contributed to the Trust will be returned to the Trust. All Trust money will then be distributed by the trustees to a charitable organization(s) that works to protect government whistleblowers’ First Amendment rights and helps to defend them from retaliatory action."

10. It's over. Dead and buried, as far as I'm concerned. If we aren't to
get any meaningful indictment's out of the Plame case, then it's over. The rest is just a (not so) private personal lawsuit. Again, I say, let them pay for it themselves. And, if they can't afford it, get the ACLU to pay for it.

3. Why not a contingency suit?
My attorney brother read the filing and said if it had merit they would have been able to get a lawyer to handle it on contingency. It looks pretty bleak.

Apparently they drew a Repuke judge too.

4. Are you kidding me?
This case is not just about them it's about you and me and the future of our country. What the administration did was break the law, lie and slap every American in the face leading us into a war that has killed tens of thousands. The Wilson's were a small part of this but they stood up to the administration instead of being intimidated and that is why we should stand behind them and support them. So what if they are rich, this case is going to eat up one hell of a lot of their funds in a fight for you and me. The Administration is going to try to dry them up if they can. They have done a lot for our cause and that is why I am supporting them 100%.

6. they won't keep damages for personal use
they plan to set up a fund for defense of government whistle-blowers -- heard about it on the tee vee.

I'll donate ~$10 or $20 because I can't afford more. The importance of small donations from many many people should never be underestimated. It's how Howard Dean was able to finance his presidential campaign. And Bernie Sanders is doing exactly that for his Senate fundraising. I hope that same power of the masses will help the Wilsons with their legal expenses, and send a message to the neocon freaks that the Wilsons have a very large number of people rooting for them.

7. how do you know they're rich?
they're both civil servants who put service to country above money. Joseph Wilson's diplomatic career can hardly be called glamorous, and Plame's covert job doesn't mean she gets paid the big bucks.

I'm guessing they're, at the most, upper middle class. There's nothing like an expensive lawsuit against the sick neocon political blood sport players to wipe out the family life savings. They have 2 kids to think about.

I'm going to send them a contribution -- their fight is very very important. A small donation, but if many people send small contributions, it will add up to help them kick some neocon ass!
