Apparently Pooty-Poot and the Chimp are On The Outs?
No Crusades pooty?? damn....

Bush blocks Russia WTO bid in icy exchange

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060716/ap_on_re_eu/bush_putin

<snip>

There was a quick handshake but little warmth between Bush and Putin during a photo opportunity opening their talks. For the second day, Bush spent part of it mountain biking.

<snip>

"I talked about my desire to promote institutional change in parts of the world like Iraq where there's a free press and free religion," Bush said at the news conference, "and I told him that a lot of people in our country would hope that Russia would do the same thing."

Putin, in a barbed reply, said: "We certainly would not want to have the same kind of democracy as they have in Iraq, I will tell you quite honestly." Bush's face reddened as he tried to laugh off the remark. "Just wait," Bush replied about Iraq.

Putin also said Russia would not take part "in any crusades, in any holy alliances" — a remark seemingly intended to win points with Arab allies. Bush's national security adviser, Stephen Hadley, said he was perplexed by the comment.

The pools (is that the correct term?) of natural gas that lay beneath the satilites of Russia is what PNAC is going for. It's the whole ball of wax. Watch for strange three way dances between Russia, China, and neo-cons--it's all about monopolizing huge pockets of natural gas--the next oil.

7. Hey, Hadley

A lot of us in fly-over country were yelling "(un)Holy War" when the Current Occupant started the run up to this Iraq crusade.

How many billions, how many lives, how many fabrications ago was that?

10. Regarding Hadley's being "perplexed" by the comment:
At the diplomatic level, I don't know what else he COULD say.

_ _ _

Asked to respond to Mr. Putin's apparent reference to U.S. military occupation of Iraq, Hadley told reporters "Well, he's got a point. We did lie our asses off on the WsMD, and of course as much of a jerk as Saddam was, it hardly merited a full-scale invasion of a sovereign country. And don't get me started on Iraq becoming the top magnet for terrorism in the history of humankind."

17. LOL! Exactly.
I watched Lesley Stahl, of all people, wrap Hadley up and throw him out into the back alley on 60 MINUTES around the time of the WsMD non-revelations.

He was no match for her.

And she's not exactly a fire-belching anarchist.

11. What's this "Just wait" baloney?
A threat? We going to deliver Iraqi style democracy to Russia? Or was this another lame 'last word' retort from the Boyking? Putin can't be too concerned....after watching George's mismanagement of Iraq, no doubt he'd fare much a whole lot worse against Russia.

16. Excerpts taken from Bush-Putin question & answers today
with the press:

Bush:
"..... of course -- we talked philosophy. One thing, what happens when you get relaxed and are friendly with each other, you're able to share philosophies and able to ask questions about decision-making. And I appreciate very much our discussion last night and this morning about why the President has made decisions he's made, what decisions he intends to make, and the decisions I made. We don't always agree with each other, but nevertheless, it's important for leaders to be able to share philosophy, whether it be the philosophy of government or the philosophy of governing.

And our relationship is good. And I want to thank the President for his hospitality. I thank you for your good food, thank you for the 60th birthday gift you gave me last night, and thanks for the meeting this morning."

This must be Bush the great philosopher????

Further down transcript:

BUSH: "I think you'll find all parties here want the violence to stop. In my judgment, the best way to stop the violence is to understand why the violence occurred in the first place. And that's because Hezbollah has been launching rocket attacks out of Lebanon into Israel, and because Hezbollah captured two Israeli soldiers. That's why we have violence.

And the best way to stop the violence is for Hezbollah to lay down its arms, and to stop attacking. And, therefore, I call upon....."

Notice bush enjoys using the word 'violence' over, and over.....
Throughout his answers he repeats words and phrases, he does this often at home but couldn't he try to sound intelligent in front of such a large audience?

I found this transcript earlier and now can't remember where, but, I believe it was on Yahoo.

18. Yeah, Bush and Putin, two philosophers engaged in an
elevated Socratic dialog.

It's more like Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder trying to help one another out on an Easter egg hunt. They're both assholes of the highest order, each in his own piggish and immoral way.

25. It would be laughable, if it weren't so serious.

Does Bush think history only started since he became "president?" I guess it's just a simple mind that can only hold an abbreviated version of history.

20. I am pretty sure he has made a few comments before about Bush.
Something along the lines of America living in a dictatorship and not knowing it, and something else of not taking advice on democracy from Bush.

I think these statments were made some time ago, but I will have to google.

don't ask me why, I just get the feeling that Putin really considers Bush as ill mannered, rough, ignorant, and well, basically beneath him.
