Eight years of Peace and Prosperity...Thank God that nightmare is over
Originally from the Onion but how true it has become......What a nightmare those eight long years of Peace and Prosperity were. Peace was actually breaking out all around the world. Thank the Lord Bush* came along and put an end to that nonsense...

3. Eight years ago, if you had seen where we are today
on a movie, you would have thought it had to be a joke.

Americans haven't had proper working wage increases since 1973. There was no magic 8 year reprieve. Only a new field allowing more Americans to work with decent wages happened and that field is now being offshored; thanks in part to provisions laid out during those 8 years. NAFTA is an obvious one for starters. And the big IT offshoring experiment started in 2000. Not 2001.

Also, the DMCA, while not related to offshoring, is a riot too. Prosperity for the supply side; while it reduced piracy and such (which is fair) it also exterminates fair-use. So if I can't back up the goods I spent my hard-earned money for. Prosperity, my big fat honky ass. I'm broke if I make one mistake -- or if the hard drive crashes; iTunes would otherwise love me more except I AM allowed to make backups through their service.

The DOMA also ensured some people remained second class. How's that for prosperity too? I'm not allowed to have a civil union (assuming there are enough decent gay men out there, and all I am since coming out is 9 years older and mocked by any number of gay men who just don't give a damn) yet corporations see me as a walking wallet because I don't have a wife and/or kids and don't get me started on the population problem... But I digress. Ever go to a gay pride festival (I doubt it)? It's all corporate. By some companies who have pitiful human rights records -- Coca Cola being an example. They don't give a shit except for money.

There was no prosperity. Only a sham. And it's not the gay thing either. I'd happily convert anyway; I have my reasons.
