Send Daddy Bush & Bill Clinton to quell the violence?
How will this help? Many people are pushing this. How can they help?

1. Both had good diplomatic relations in the region as presidents
Both presidents tried to bring about useful negotiations from a fairly neutral standpoint, and have some prestige in the region. There are no neutral standpoints or even diplomats in the W administration. They can't solve an issue if it doesn't involve blowing people up. No one will listen to the US unless we can get past W's taint. Clinton and HW had some respect in the Muslim nations.

Plus, they both can read. That gives them a better chance than W and his Wandering Band or Merry Morans.

2. Why send an American at all...
why must it be an American? Why not some other notable from a country that has NOT taken sides in this crisis?

If, for some reason unfathomable to me at this point, it must be an American, the only one that MIGHT have credibility with both sides is Former President Jimmy Carter, imo.

3. You are exactly right.
Let someone else do it; if it has to be an American, Jimmy Carter is the best one. Or Jimmy and someone from another country.

5. Unfortunately, Bush doesn't want peace
why would he ask for help?

6. bush took himself and the US out of the equation when they vetoed
the UN security resolution that wanted to bring about a ceasefire, imo, so why should he have a say at all nevermind ask for help.

4. Because it will give the appearance of diplomacy.
That's what the industry needs right now, the appearance of diplomacy. And who better to supply it than the Great White Fathers?
