Gingrich goes off the deep end...this is WW III
http://archives.seattletimes.nwsource.com/cgi-bin/texis.cgi/web/vortex/display?slug=postman16m&date=20060716

So this is how the rightwing lunatics intend to salvage the failed Bush agenda.

Declare WW III has begun, Re-instate the Draft, and bomb everyone into submission.

Sounds like a winner.

For Islamic Fundamentalism.

And a loser for the rest of us.

7. cuz he's gettin ready to run for 08. How about a Newt/Coulter ticket?
Maybe they could get married; "Christian" Coulter could be "Family Values" Newtie's fourth wife. Note to Ann: Don't get breast cancer, Newtie doesn't find that up to his standards of attractiveness.

3. "This idea that we have this one-sided war where the other team
gets to plan how to kill us and we get to talk, is nuts."

Newt wants a one-sided war where we plan how to kill them.

4. I would expect so, it accomplishes two things
Gets the US in to a war with Iran just as PNAC has prescribed
Makes it look like bu$h is trying to save the world.

Then come November, they can use the age old bull shit line, don't change horses in the middle of the race.

5. Newty Gingrich is a bad man.
He's proved that over and over. Unfortunately he's a bad man among many other bad men, and I'm afraid the next bad man talking point will be that we're in World War III, and all those bad men will make it so.

Let's see how much Faux News talks it up. That will be the clue.

10. It's implied.
you can't win WW III without an army.

And the one they have now is stretched to the breaking point.

Read between the lines.

16. There will be no draft
You think there are protests now? Just wait until those 20-year olds of today are dragged kicking and screaming from their LCD TV's and Dual-core 3GHz PC's just to go and kill some people they never even heard of, let alone feel any threat from.

The draft in today's atmosphere will make the Vietnam protests seem like a pleasant dream.

19. Well why does Joe Biden often say...
Edited on Sun Jul-16-06 04:16 PM by Postman
"I think the American people are ready to step up".....

to what is he refering to? Step up to what?

A wider war? accepting mass casualties? What?

Yeah. I think you may be correct about a draft.....today. Because the groundwork (read - propaganda campaign) hasn't been launched yet for the need to "re-arm" (as if a Gazillion dollar "defense" budget is a mere pittance to throw at the lowly warmongering weapons builders).

Maybe all this BS talk about "are we in WW III?" is to get that trial balloon floated out there and to put it in peoples heads, ever so subtly, that "we need to win the war" (whatever that is) by "REALLY supporting the troops" by re-instating the Draft and giving those poor souls defending freedom, democracy and the American way in Iraq some relief.

If they can sell "pet rocks", and they did, they can sell a "Draft" to win WW III...

They can't even keep recruitment goals. As far as your comparison to selling pet rocks I don't even know how to respond to that.

22. And there parents will be with them side by side
Anti war and draft protests were hot back during the Vietnam conflict. But we haven't seen anything yet.

Before they're able to draft the young people of today, their parents will drag GW Bush out of the White House by his hair.

talking points; she (Alex Witt) asked a guest if this was the start of WWIII. I didn't know how to react to even the idea...still don't.

12. Once in a while, words of wisdom can come from even the
village idiot.
He and his mendaciously savage cohort are the epitome of execrable repu-fascist modernity. There is nothing to recommend him or his incompetent, ethically challenged fellows at any level of government, but this time he managed to see the forest.

And (someday soon, we hope) a massive influx of federal aid! Just like Babs said at the time, "This is working out rather nicely for them". :puke:
