WASHINGTON - After rebuffing the NAACP for five years, President Bush will speak at the annual convention of the oldest U.S. civil rights organization for the first time since taking office because he sees "a moment of opportunity," the White House said Tuesday.

Bush was the first sitting president in decades not to address the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.

5. They will probably require loyalty oaths to Bush, like every other speech
that Bush gives.

There will be no booing.

9. Loyalty oaths at the NAACP?
I've trouble believing that.

I'd expect something more like Rosa Park's funeral.

Hoped you liked standing out in the heat and getting cheated out of your vote, but I know that
you really like me no matter what I do, and if you don't I will just catapult the propaganda
at you again and fix the machines.

21. yes, and they are planning another purge the vote for 06
I don't understand what this is all about, except if the black districts suddenly start showing
80% returns for Republicans, they can say they reached out. Just like Bush made that big appeal
to Democrats the day before the election in 2004. It was to explain the stolen vote.

26. They're so transparently
clever like a meat cleever.

By Jove, I think you've got it. I couldn't understand why bush would lower himself(in his estimation..otherwise why didn't he all those previous years?)..now I see it as you so clearly laid out.

All in good preparation for steal the vote.

As an aside, a People magazine I was leafing through had a "Happy Birthday mr president(sic) and I had gag reflex. "Happy Birthday" as if he's not an Idiotic mass murderer? As If ..he's even the president???>????!!

27. what I would do if I was a big brain in the NAACP
would be to get him in a forum where he would be forced to guarantee voting rights for blacks,
flatter his ego, like we know you are the one that will make sure that all those like Blackwell
that want to deny votes against our brothers and sisters will not be able to do so, we expect
you as a leader to reach out to prevent caging of our fighting service persons in Iraq.
Make it part of his image on the line, this wholesale theft of the black vote.

32. Yes, but Bush has to get everyone to like him
He has the need to be accepted, not that he would really care, but look at what he does just
to keep the faith with the fundies, I am not saying that he would try to champion the black
voters but it might tamp down overt vote suppression like Ohio 2004.

opportunity to stand before them and lie, will they? George Bush has a record that clearly speaks for itself: if you have dark skin, are gay, or don't fit his definition of "American" you are worthless.

I hope they BOO the SOB's sorry ass right off the stage!

Remember that? They laughed at him and he didn't know what sovereignty was - couldn't even pronounce it (big surprise, huh?) "Soverinity is soverinity", he defined the word with the same word - brilliant:rofl:

The NAACP might just have something planned, hmm, as in a set up. Listening KKKarl???

22. There is a method to the madness here
Bush and the GOP are trying to line up Black Church support in 2006, especially with their plan of trying to sell the gay marriage hustle to get black christians into the GOP. Speaking to the NAACP is a tool to this end. He's smart to make that inroad to sell that case.

Now whether black folk buy it? Different story. This NAACP member isn't buying it. :)
