I am completely lost
I can't recall a time where things have been so bad in such a large area of the globe , I won't even list the countries in trouble you know who they are .

Here we are looking at voting in novemeber , the world is coming apart with either mass bombings or all other forms of mass murder . Each day it seems like there is another turn for the worse . This reminds me of the time just before the 2004 elections , it smells exactly the same only the stage has gotten much larger .

Most of the US will be voting on electronic machines so you don't have a clue where your vote ended up but we are told the only positive position here is to go out and vote in record breaking numbers .

Then with what I feel is a slim chance to win and if we did then we have to somehow and don't ask me how , turn this 6 years of complete disaster around so many of us can beging to breath again .

I could care less about same sex marriage or flag burning . I do care about freedom and these two issues should be allowed in a free society .

I do know the world I used to know is gone forever and the hints of the world of the future doesn't look like a world for humans to be to happy about .

even though I am for medical advancement what real good will it be if no one can afford to benefit from it , with the cost of insurance and medications most people can't even afford simple medications .

I don't get this , it is sick and I can't see how in the next 50 years how it will change for the better . If the majority of the population desires a fair life and wants to end wars and killing then we are controlled and can't move , it the few who have the desire to murder and kill and destroy , believe in some sort of rapture ,or have all their security for life , whatever they feel they have to ignore all the horrors then let them have their WW III and let them live in the aftermath . As it is now those that desire a world of hunanitarians are being picked off and murdered slowely in one fashion or another .

This is just the way i see it now , sure if I had a job reporting and investigating on all the wrongs being done or had direct control in some real way then I would have a purpose . If I had a child to secure the future for then i would feel purpose , to go off to some low pay job surrounded daily by these unfolding horrors does not seem like a purpose to me , all you end up doing is waiting in uncertainty for you turn to come .

1. These will be the "good old days" all too soon
Edited on Wed Jul-19-06 11:54 AM by Boomer
Don't get depressed now, blues90, because someday in the not-too-distant future today will look like a golden age compared to living in a world of chaos and turmoil.

Global climate change is going to sweep away our petty little problems and supplant them with a scramble for survival in the midst of droughts/floods/storms/fires that bring on disease and food shortages, even famine. Governments will collapse and society will convulse as groups fight over scarce resources.

So enjoy life now, while you can. It can ALWAYS get much worse.

but, damn, to think about thinking about these as the good old days can get one down! If these do turn out to be the good old days, somebody just take me out and throw me in the well now.

8. I'd almost welcome that, at this point.
I'm sick to death of being drowned in paperwork, of what little money I manage to get being snatched straight out of my "savings" account...I'm being SUED by a credit card company for the entire balance on a card I never even held; it was stolen from my mailbox. If they win, which I guess they will, if I ever get a paycheck again they can TAKE it...

...if we can ever afford a new car, we have to pay bribes to the government, pay huge insurance bills to a company that would find a way to pay back not a dime if there were an accident....pay insane amounts for the gas to enrich the slave-owners so we can GET to the shitty job to make MORE slaveowners richer, so the tiny wage we make can go to make MORE slaveowners richer.......

(Well, it says right here in this NOVEL we sent out we can do that now...hang on let me find where........well, I really can't find it but I promise it says we're allowed somewhere in this.....)

I'm sick to death of fake conditions, bribes, lies, of Them being allowed to do whatever they want, whereas if I wrote on a paper "You cannot steal my money" and sent it to them, I doubt that'd get me anywhere. I'm sick to death of Fakeworld, and I would almost find a REAL world--in which money and bigger car and designer clothes ceased to matter, and only brains and perseverance were any help--to be a great big relief.

I'm sick to death of "Christianity" as govt/corporate policy--if it goes well, the govt/company deserves your thanks! If it goes badly, you must've done it to yourself!

It'd be nice if the results of my efforts directly benefitted ME and my family for a change--or even hurt me, since it'd be better than random attacks from companies and dictators I'm told have the right to treat me however they want--because they've SAID SO on this piece of paper, right here...

This is not very clear--that is ONE TINY EXAMPLE, the most recent, of those with all the money battering those of us who have almost none. What I'm trying to say is that a Mad Max world would suit me better than this one--and would serve our aristocracy right.

I hate the world we have, frankly. I've been hoping for a collapse since the 90's. Because until this is destroyed we will never, ever have a chance to build anything better--and we will never know what it's like NOT to wake up going "...it's still here...I should just stay in bed..."

Unfortunately, you and I will never live long enough to see that "anything better". The readjustment of homo sapiens to a new climate state is going to be painful and very long, at least by our pitiful measure of time.

to stay the course, because we wouldn't want to flush all the hard work of the last 6 years down the toilet, it's bound to improve.

3. Our congress is a damn JOKE. Just look at them! The world
is burning and they are discussing gay marriage, flag burning and other such nonsense. I am appalled at their lack of interest and pure idiocy. I can't even watch TV now because the old white guys keep saying Israel was attacked and has to defend itself.

9. Take heart
The first three words of your post are important. I can't recall..........meaning not in your/our lifetime. Think what the horrors of WWII must have been like for example. I am not minimalizing the chaos of the present moment simply trying to bring it within a frame you can work with.

10. These are uncertain times
Uncertain times have come and gone, this one might also. Or might not. It is hard not knowing what will happen, being uncertain makes one anxious and scared.

I grew up during times of constant fear of getting nuked. My parent became a Ham radio operator for a couple related reasons. If the world were going to be destroyed, might as well do something positive you enjoy, and if the world were going to be destroyed, might as well do something to stay in contact with others as long as you could. I was told not to eat the snow while playing outside due to "fallout".

There is still fear that the world might get nuked massively, but that has decreased. Now the fear is global warming/climate change/ end of easily accessible affordable oil/depression/ famine/ pestuance.

What will happen next? What is happening? For the USA, it has been isolated for so long, many DUers lifetimes, and is now rejoining the world. For the planet, people are doing what they have always done, fighting, harming, etc. Humanities social evolution has not kept pace with its technological evolution or its ability to reproduce.

So, words of wisdom, such as I have to offer. Don't be afraid. Yes, be cautious, do what you can do to help positively, and realize that we all will die at some time. Don't use more than you need, be gratefuol for what you have. Nothing says the USA empire must stand forever, or the human race go on forever either. You are in control of little, work for positive things as much as you can, don't live in fear.

ps, I need to listen to myself often, thank you for letting me write all this and hear myself. Onward.

12. I did leave out global warming
However as great an idea it is to stop killing the earth and Al Gore has put in lots of effort to inform people , I fear knowing man it is way too late . If we loose all our oil and industry and economy then perhaps man will be forced to stop polluting the globe but this is about the only way I see it happeneing .
I to grew up in the 50's and through wars but this is much larger then before , we have many more ways to destroy eachother and we now have madmen in almost every country in control of this horror , and what have we got , bush and the diebold and right wing facists , this was never this bad , we did have somewhat good leadership before this bush came along , this is the main problem we face and it's spreading rapidly .

I am not afraid to die , I am afraid of dying a slow death and watching others do the same . Sure , I can try to do what I can in my little tiny existence to stay out of the way , however it is next to impossible for me to ignore one thing that is going on around me . Certainly it has never been close to perfect but you did have a chance and a way out and up , now this has been stripped away for all but the few who have the money and security , I have only my two hands and a voise that is being silenced and rage , this makes everything so much more difficult and I am not young anymore , don't mind getting old , do mind not hlding much hope or even being here to see if hope again rolls in . I feel like I have had my life as little as it was and now that's all over , there is this horror in it's place .
