No, Bush doesn't support Israel, before someone drops that on me. Israel, to Bush, is a convenient way for his hegemonic, imperialistic goal of. . .hmmm? What is his goal this week?

43. No, the ad hominem attacks and the bullshit
"if you don't support Israel's bloodshed, you must hate all Jews and want them destroyed" bullshit. You keep putting FALSE words in people's mouths to attribute to them what you WISH they would have said because it's easier to attack that nonexistent position. That's called a strawman.

So ya got your ad homs on the one hand and your strawmen on the other, and very little rational discussion anywhere in between, thanks to the divisiveness and hostility instigated by a few.

53. It seems pretty obvious that there are no shades of gray...
in your world. Live a few more decades and you may not be so quick to judge things on the surface, but rather look for underlying causes.

I don't wish for civilians to be victims, and I'm sure the Israelis do not either.

Question: Why isn't the Lebanese government evacuating its citizens who are in harm's way?

Or because that friendly government was weak before and now Israel's stupid escalation is weakening even further by the moment.

Actually, I'd like to know where the Lebanese armed forces are. Their country has been under attack for a week. Probably the same answers apply.

Beirut residents believe anyplace might be bombed

http://www.mercurynews.com/mld/mercurynews/news/world/15076526.htm

BEIRUT, Lebanon - Israel claimed Wednesday that it had wiped out half of Hezbollah's arsenal, but many of the targets Israeli warplanes have hit in their week-long bombardment of the Lebanese capital have no obvious military value.

Among them: a tissue factory, a dairy, and a pair of construction vehicles.

Those targets offer few clues about how much success Israel has had in crippling the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah, which is holding two captured Israeli soldiers and firing rockets into Israel.

But traveling the streets of Beirut leaves one clear impression: Lebanese believe that not a single inch of their country is beyond the whir of Israeli warplanes, the hiss of a falling bomb or the devastating explosion when one hits.

Fear has left the once-bustling capital deserted and shuttered, its few remaining residents bracing for the next boom.

"They're hitting everything, not just Hezbollah," wailed Leila Chahrour, 30, whose home was destroyed, forcing her family to live with 15 other people in a cramped motel room. "It's like this: If you are Lebanese, Israel will kill you."
