U.N. Resolution 1559: "the disbanding and disarmament of all....militias"
Edited on Thu Jul-20-06 04:01 AM by Clarkie1
"3. Calls for the disbanding and disarmament of all Lebanese and non-Lebanese militias"

There is no way for the other parts of the resolution to be upheld until the militias are disbanded. This is Israel's goal. A Democratic and peaceful Lebanon. There are helping to achieve the goals of U.N. resolution 1559. The current military action is the first step in the process. The rest of the steps will require leadership by the U.S., a U.N. peacekeeping force with a mandate from the international community (as evidenced by a future U.N. resolution), and massive economic aid to the Lebanese government and people to rebuild their the Democracy after militias have been fully disarmed.

1. Bombing the country's civilian infrastructure probably hurts more than...
helps at this point. If anything, the kind of international pressure that was applied on Syrian forces to withdraw in 2004 was simply lacking when it came to pressuring Hezbollah, the last militia that's still weaponized, to disarm.

2. Wow, what fucking bullshit.
Trying to justify the murder of hundreds of innocent people by citing a UN resolution.

That's one of the ways the idiot tried to justify the US war against the people of Iraq

Truly pathetic.

5. Oh please
what tortured logic. As if Israel's bombing the shit out of Lebanon will do anything but strengthen H'zbollah.
