4. Eating SHEEP?
How big is that bad boy?? The only snake I can think of that's big enough to eat sheep is a python...and I don't think they're indigenous to Australia. Might be an ex-pet. (Ha!)

24. I meant some might have to go to "Repet" to get their pets
cloned if they turned up missing... and yes, it was Total Recall, which I apparrently do not have tonight. Rare.

29. You may have borrowed my brain
It's rare I remember anything for longer than a few minutes, and a bloomin' miracle I even recall my name most days. And I'm young. -ish. :)

I think the question has been answered. Likely not a pet, but indigenous, so no need for repet. Much need for snake charmers though.

As an aside, why would anyone want to clone a pet? You'd only get the resemblance, not the personality!

38. Well, ya see, once I was having a bout of low blood sugar,
almost into a coma and so forth and that little bugger dialed 911 for me. Another time, I was at the circus, and had the little fella in my pocket, when all of a sudden a rogue elephant decided to use me for a foot stool. The lil guy jumped from my shirt pocked and scared that elephant back into full submission, damn near into a fetal position, so when you have a critter as valuable as that, you just don't eat him all at once.

11. Yep they have them
and all kinds of other nasty snakes. The pythons there don't get as big as the ones in SE Asia or Africa but they can get big enough to be dangerous.

21. Update
the link says it was a rock python in Africa and it was posed that way after it was electrocuted on the fence. A 15-20 footer is definitely big enough to be dangerous to humans even without being venomous.

6. It wouldn't be sheep
The snake simply isn't big enough to eat a sheep, sheep are pretty big. I'd guess this one would be lucky to get down a newborn lamb.

I can't vouch for the validity of the photo, as in where it was taken, since there has been some discussion over here (Aus) as to who found it. It was apparently an Army team although I don't believe the Army verified it.

BUT, it does look a lot like a Carpet Python. We get them around the house quite a bit up to almost 3 metres (almost 10 ft) long. And they do have teeth like that. They are quite quiet, you can normally touch them without too much trouble. As far as snakes in Australia go, this is completely harmless (we have 8 of the 10 most deadly snakes in the world)

14. Oh Gawd.... here is the source.... snake slit open, full grown
ewe.... faint of heart need not click.

http://www.bushveld.co.za/pictures-python.htm

Here's the actual source:http://www.bushveld.co.za/pictures-python.htm (warning: graphic photos of the snake slit open) The snake was found to have a full-grown impala ewe in its gullet. It actually happened in South Africa. The pictures of the snake apparently trying to bite the fence are misleading; the snake was "posed" that way in order to show the open mouth. It was electrocuted as it tried to squeeze under the fence, being significantly larger in girth than when it entered.

22. That is a beautiful snake.
Big snakes can eat sheep, pigs and other large creatures. The teeth are hooked like that so the prey can't escape (not that they are usually able after constriction) and they keep the meal going down in the right direction. My friend had a 14 foot reticulated python. Was mostly gentle but sometimes would mistake him for food when it got really hungry, packs a nasty bite.
