(07-22) 04:00 PDT Washington -- The Bush administration is rushing a delivery of precision-guided bombs to Israel, which requested the expedited shipment last week after beginning its air campaign against Hezbollah targets in Lebanon, U.S. officials said Friday.

WASHINGTON -- Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will head to the Middle East on Sunday searching for a diplomatic resolution to end the Israeli-Hizballah confrontation that threatens to escalate and possibly spread through an already volatile region.

On Friday, she rejected the "false promise" of an immediate cease-fire in the spreading war between Israel and Hizballah because it likely would maintain the status quo, rather than address the cause of the problem.
