I Just Saw John Roberts on CNN - Has He Switched from CBS?
I don't have cable so I never get to watch CNN. But I just saw him big as life talking to Christiane Anapour (sp) She is back in the thick of things.

3. Good for Him.
I haven;t been watching CBS very much so I just didn't notice he was gone.
I really like John Roberts.

5. I am afraid that CBS made a serious error in judgement...
... by hiring Katie Kouric to anchor the evening news... but then, MSM is more about entertainment and ratings than anything else.

Perhaps she will do well, but I think she will have to work long and hard to build the credibility she will need to replace Rather.

7. Which is a shame
I actually thought Bob Schiffer was doing a good job. And John Roberts would of done a heckuva job.

8. I like Bob Schieffer, too. And John Roberts
I think they made a big mistake, too.

4. Roberts kind of reminds me a bit of the character of the Real Estate
King in the film AMERICAN BEAUTY.

9. When someone looks as good as Roberts I can stand to
hear all the bad news.

10. Maybe there's a film career in his future.
He looks happier on CNN than he did with CBS.

I pick up a powerful Ambition vibe from him.

6. I can't see him without thinking
of his days at Toronto's City-TV and Much Music. He had a mullet of considerable note. I can't think of his as a serious journalist.

11. He Lost The Katie Couric Sweepstakes
He was the sure "heir apparent" to Dan Rather...that was until Rather's reputation took a big hit with the 60 Minutes mess. That seemed to affect Roberts as well as CBS moved to bring in the more "moderate" Bob Schieffer to squell all the right wing hate mongers who were getting into Viacom's head. Roberts was futher out when the network decided it needed more "glitz" on the News and that Les Moonves got to call the shots...Roberts days at CBS were numbered.

In the meantime, CNN let go Aaron Brown and Roberts looked to fit the niche Brown was filling...of New York/East Coast intellectual...or more authoritative....but then Anderson Cooper came along and that pretty much has pushed Roberts into a supporting role at CNN almost like he had at CBS. The dude has been on the bad side of some bad luck in his career...but then with the goofy reporting he's been doing from the Middle East the past couple days, I can see why.
