Can we stop comparing Israel to Nazi Germany?
I know I am new here, but I am humbly requesting that we place a moratorium on comparing Israel to Nazi Germany.

Don't most DUers agree that that is not appropriate?

2. It is completely inappropriate to compare Israel to the Nazis,
but people with more anger than perspective seem to think it helps make their point, so I doubt we'll be able to get rid of it entirely.

3. Anybody who compares the holocaust to the plight of the Palestinians...
...is entirely ignorant of what the holocaust was. And I've seen it done an awful lot in the last week or so, which tells me there's heaps of ignorance to go around.

Thank you for this post.

4. Most agree...
...but it really ruins the fun for the 'dyed in wool' Israeli haters, who must be foaming at the mouth with all the negative articles out there about Israel.

5. I haven't seen it happening.
If you do see it, I would alert the moderators.

6. Locking
This is being locked because any discusion ensuing is certain to be bitterly hostile and full of flames and insults.

However, the point you raise is worth adressing.

In the Israel v. Palestine forum, where discussion of Middle Eastern matters is usually sequestered, there are rules that specifically forbid likening any party or nation or people involved in this conflict to the Nazis. Doing so is not an argument but flame-bait, intended only to gratify the emotions of some, and outrage those of others. The rules of Democratic Underground provide that flame-bait can and should be removed, and that comments intended as flame-bait should not be made.
