Holy #%^& - He Saved A Little Girl, But Did He Have A Good Job?
I was channel surfing the radio on the drive to work this morning in the Boston area. I happened to hit the John DePetro call-in show. DePetro is a fringe-Right human weasel - picture the kid in your schoolyard who got on all fours behind the victim before the school bully pushed the victim backwards.

DePetro is currently on disciplinary leave for calling Matt Amorello, the former head of the Big Dig (and a Republican, by the way, appointed by a Republican Governor...) a "fag".

So I'm listening to the Weasel's replacement, and the first call comes in, and it utterly blew me away.

The topic is the killing yesterday of Alberto Duarte, a South Boston housing project resident. Duarte was killed helping a little girl who was threatened.

The way I figure it, Duarte's a hero.

Not to the caller I heard. The conversation went something like this:

"This kid who got shot had three kids. Somethin' that nobody's sayin... he had these kids but did he have a wife? Did this kid have any sort of job?"

While the Weasel probably would have latched on to this to make a tirade about poor minorities sucking the precious bodily fluids from society - heck, he once strongly implied that a woman who was raped was asking for trouble by going to a bar alone. The Wesel's stand-in, however, tried to do the right thing - he pointed out that the victim drove handicapped people in the morning and cared for his grandmother the rest of the day. He had saved for a car for two years - and had finally purchased the car on the day of his death, paying cash.

That didn't stop the caller: "What kinda' job is that! What kinda' job is that!" the caller sputtered...

Holy crap. This is what we have to deal with in our country - and I'm in the bluest of the blue states. The battle ahead will be a long one. Prepare.

1. "What kinda' job is that! What kinda' job is that!"....what........
......is that supposed to mean??? That driving ".....handicapped people in the morning..." isn't good enough for the caller's liking?? Or the fact that he "....cared for his grandmother the rest of the day." isn't good enough??? And anyway, what does having a job or not having a job have to do with getting shot while trying to help someone else??? What an idiot!!!:banghead:

2. Yes, but you're listening to knuckle dragging talk radio.
As blue as it is, Massachusetts still has a good size population of Cro-Magnons.

9. Yeah, I remember them all too well
beefy and choleric Irish and Italians mostly, a few white collar WASPS in the outer suburbs, spend most of their nonworking hours in sports bars, have huge issues regarding women, oh yeah.

There are idiots everywhere. Some places are fortunate enough not to have put them into positions of power.

have those attitudes. They just don't call into the RW radio talk shows. Fortunately, they're numerically a minority and can't have much impact on statewide races and referenda.

And I agree, Warpy. There are idiots everywhere, even in the liberal Bay Area.

3. that's the thing about talk radio
Even if these bastards are a small minority, talk radio allows them to be comfortable with all their scary-ass beliefs.

5. Great! Let's Start A Movement!
How 'bout you and me go down to WRKO and picket these swine, or start a boycott of their advertisers? I'm just utterly fed up with the sewage that comes from that waste of bandwidth.

10. There are at least 53 million of them. They voted for Bush.

12. And 3.5 million of those were Diebold-concocted votes...
so it's even less than that.

:hi:

7. what kind of job does DePetro have?
He seems to be employed as a manure spreader.

In stark contrast, Duarte's three children have a hero for a father.
