Irish Gov Refuses To Allow US Bomb-Carrying Planes To Land On their Soil
Irish refused bombs sent to Prestwick airport
EDDIE BARNES AND MURDO MACLEOD

BOMBS destined to be used by Israel are being flown via Scotland only because the Irish government refused to allow them to land on its soil.

Scotland on Sunday can reveal that after the conflict in Lebanon began three weeks ago, Ireland turned down a United States request for planes carrying 600lb so-called bunker busters to refuel at Shannon airport in Co Clare.

As a result, cargo planes carrying the bombs, which the Israeli army is using in its offensive against the Hezbollah, are being flown via Prestwick airport in Ayrshire.

The use of Prestwick triggered a furious diplomatic row last week after it emerged that the US had broken aviation rules by failing to notify Britain about the flights.

And shame on the Scots for letting the Blair government use them like disposable diapers once again, to be shit upon and discarded.

10. I wonder how they are going to fly this to Israel
I don't think they can fly the stuff over Western Europe, France, Spain etc... They could fly to the Azores, then through Gibraltar... but what's next ? Aviano if the Italians let them. I wonder if they can do the trip Azores -Israel in one flight without landing.

11. About time, guess the protests finally worked.
US has been flying bombs and materiel into Shannon for some time, sparking many protests. Some Irish even renamed the airport the Shannon Warport.

14. Apologizing for scotland
Here in the highlands, the new israeli clearances are disturbing and abhorrent, so much so,
that 'we' are glad to help the United States murder lotsa people, as the queen must dictate
the right, not the scots, and the deal at prestwick is the queen's override of the scots,
an embarassing refusal of the right of self rule.

When the english crushed the rebellion of bonnie prince charlie, and drove the dissenters
abroad to the colonies, the myth of the unrepentant highlander was born, one who would
return to make right against the divisive clearances, and usurpation of power by the
nationalists... and then world war 2, and everyone died together to defend britain,
and everybody pretended it was a united kingdom, but the long old issues are still at root,
and the scots abroad, 50 millions of them 10:1 to scotland itself, is message of those
clearances, of the ruthless cleansing of people off the land by hook or crook, by war or
other means by a ruthless conquorer.

And broken like a wave over the highlands, the white settlers of english and 'foreigners'
dilute another tibetan indigeonous tribal concern, and the myth still arises, that the
scots have self rule, and the United kingdom is divided amongst itself by the yanks,
divide and rule, land the plane in the place where the repression of indigeonous rights
is most effective, where foreign landowners are the right, and the queen has absolute her
higland link that makes it a united kingdom no matter what twaddle comes out of edinburgh.

What a tragedy, weapons of death touch the sacred highlands, and better they are moved away
quickly away from the bonnie lass.
