Have you had Finance charges on a zero balance on a CC?
I had this happen to me twice this month, once with MBNA and once with Sears MasterCard. Yep, you pay off your bill, have a zero balance and they charge a finance charge.

They'll take it off if you call on the phone. My question is, what are they charging people who don't pay off, are they charging what they had as a balance last month plus the balance this month?

Check your credit card bills and do the math. I'm curious to know.

1. had 1 threaten to send me to collections since I wouldn't pay $0.00
kept sending me the bill for $0.00, I never paid it, they sent me a letter threatening to take me to collections unless I sent them a check for the total amount I owed, which was $0.00. I phoned them and they figured out how to make it stop, was funny for a while but didn't want it on my record. Seriously.

3. I thought about it, finally tired of it and took the easy way out.
They spent a bit trying to get that nothing out of me.

4. Yep.
We paid off two cc's and were charged $25 interest on $0.00. We were outraged and called and got a credit and the very odd explaination you provided. Both were Chase credit cards; don't know if it's just them or all the userers.

7. I don't understand
What is your annual income that you can afford to toss away twenty five dollars?? I don't get it.

The other thing, you apparently have the kind of income and credit that could withstand a fight to get this stuff permanently stopped. Every time you pay it, you ensure that people who don't have the twenty five dollars to spare spend numerous stressful days and upset phone calls fighting over stuff that should be illegal to begin with.

8. If you have 0% convenience checks, write one for $0.00
Then perhaps they'll not charge you interest on your $0.00 balance! :)

I absolutely hate MBNA. Having to dump another card of theirs now that I've had for years with a credit union that a year or so ago got transfered to them, and now they're playing their jack up the interest rate games on me again. Such a pain. I'm going to pay off my balance and then write them the 0% checks to get free interest from them for a few months just to make them PAY me back!
