Question: WHAT IS THE MAXIMUM TIME ALLOWED TO EDIT A POST?
Does it start from OPENING THE REPLY WINDOW -- or does it start WHEN THE POST ACTUALLY SENT?

I'm probably going to have to go to MS Word or another word processor to do my initial work.

If there is a better forum for this question, mods -- please move.

1. One hour from POST time
I always seem to notice a glaring typo at 1 hour and 1 minute past :(

6. Yep. While elad would be the final authority ...

... one hour is what I recall him saying. That said, I've noticed an occasional 'glitch' (about once or twice a month) where an attempt to edit immediately after posting is met with a 'time expired' refusal. I don't know whether there's a time-of-day pattern to such glitches or not.

As DU's foremost edit-after-posting member, I tend to regard myself as an ex-spurt on this. :silly:

Edit: Corrected 'immediately' typo.

2. Not sure how long.

But I believe it starts from when you originally make the post.

5. Does the DU have a forum for technical questions like this?
I have one small problem with my journal that I'd like to air somewhere.

13. We used to have a forum like that but it got "abused"
a LOT, so they just want you to email them with questions now :)

9. (D'oh)
How do I edit a message?
Members have the ability to edit their own messages. The editing timeframe lasts for 60 minutes after a message is first posted. After that 60 minute timeframe is over, you are no longer permitted to edit a post.

10. Journals have one small quirk. I'll send a message to Elad, but it's
Edited on Tue Aug-01-06 02:36 PM by Radio_Lady
not that important.

Might as well air it here. Here's the problem:

When posting a message to a forum, you are able to choose whether emoticons are ENABLED or NOT. However, if you move that message to your journal, emoticons are ALWAYS ENABLED.

This came up while posting :P in a review. In the original post, I chose DO NOT ENABLE EMOTICONS.

However, when I posted it in my journal, it was immediately changed it to an emoticon -- a happy face with tongue sticking out! Moderator and DUer Call Me Wesley told me there was nothing that could be done about it.

I wonder if others have had the problem. Of course, if I had seen it soon enough, I would have corrected it.

In peace,

Radio_Lady
