NEWSMAKER: SENATE MINORITY LEADER HARRY REID

January 18, 2006

<snip>

JIM LEHRER: Do you think that is in the wind, based on what Speaker Hastert and other Republicans have said - Sen. McCain, Sen. Santorum and others?

SEN. HARRY REID: Having Sen. Santorum talk about reform is like having John Gotti talk about doing something about organized crime. He's one of the problems. So --

JIM LEHRER: Why is he one of the problems?

SEN. HARRY REID: Because he was the liaison to K Street, he has gone down to the meetings, they meet every Wednesday in Grover Norquist's office.

So I would hope that there are some people of whom you didn't mention any at this stage that will move forward. John McCain, John McCain is a man of conscience, and I admire him. We came back to Washington together, and he's talking about earmarks.

1. He's still going with the mobster theme I see.
Reminds me of something Kerry said in the third debate. Only he used Tony Soprano instead of Gotti.

4. Exactly. That's good to have some kind of thematic unity.

2. HaHAH - I've liked him since he shocked me calling Shrub "liar"
over the radioactive mountain a few years ago. He's got an HST quality that I like.

3. i seen that, it's time to start calling all republicans on what....
they have been all along and let the chips fall where they may, WAKE UP AMERICA!!! today, Santorum was dancing away from his own actions quicker than time would allow. can't wait to take those other little rats Reed & Norquist; Norquist in particular for his utterly insidious little behind the scenes shenanigans. but it is, it is time for them all to go.

the shit is hitting the fan and i say it's about time.

5. He's like a unique mix,
the gentleness of a preacher and the stealth of a ninja.

I can't wait for the gavel to bring Congress to session. Whooeeee.

6. He looks so mild mannered
Lulling his enemies into a false sense of security. Little do they know he was a boxer, and has faced down the mob.

Woe to those who underestimate Mr. Reid.
