1. He is an insane pissy old man, who should be convicted
of war crimes and locked up for a long, long time.

15. He's a pissy old man who is just starting to grasp the faintest
idea that he's been WRONG all these years, that the lesson of Vietnam wasn't reshaping the military away from massive land forces dedicated to capturing large areas of territory into a small force capable of striking and killing a lot of people and then leaving, but that the true lesson of Vietnam is that it was simply UNWINNABLE because we should never have been there in the first place.

That lesson is being taught to him by the people of Iraq.

Personally, I think the cost of teaching one pissy old man such a hard lesson is far too high. Saner people at the Pentagon, if there are any sane people at the Pentagon, should have spotted him early enough in his career to keep him completely out of power.

Perhaps that's the lesson Iraq is meant to teach the generation fighting there. I sincerely hope they learn it a lot better than the rich and powerful of my own generation learned the lesson of Vietnam.

17. for all the loss of blood & treasure the pentagon could have sent...
three cruise missiles a day into & onto some target saddam held dear every freaking day from then till now and beyond, they knew right where he was and that he was going nowhere but they send in rumsfeld and the ham handed tommy franks (another midland tx guy) along with the pathological sanction of bush himself & the bfee, and it all goes to shit

they have learned no lessons, and america herself pays the price once again

2. I loved Hillary's comment about Rumsfeld's previous testimony
being "unfulfilled." Nice way of calling the old SOB a liar.

Rummy responded he'd been very "measured" in his words. Hillary requested that the record be kept open, and that Rummy's former remarks be added to it.

Point: Hillary.

19. Has he made mistakes? Of course. Were the deliberate?
He'd say no. Could he have been less defensive? He doesn't know, you tell him.

Freakin' blathering maniac makes me want to slap him silly, and that's in addition to the horrible atrocities and war crimes he's committed.

28. I know, he drives me insane! I figured he had stopped that, but I heard
him again the other day, doing the same routine.

He's just not a smart or competent person. Otherwise he'd just answer questions directed at him. His little question-answer is his way of cutting off further questions, and reframing questions he doesn't like so that he can answer them better. A sign of a dishonest, insecure manipulator.

12. It seems like everyone in the Bush administration that I've seen
in the past few weeks is sounding like a pissy old man. Their demeanor has changed and they all look worried. Bush, Rice, Rumsfeld, all of them, are definitely showing signs of strain that haven't been apparent before. I am afraid that they have something in the works and that something big is getting ready to happen.

14. i think that's right, i think all this talk about an asymmetrical war...
is one thing and we clearly have to aware of whomever is trying to kill us,

but they have fought the whole thing 'on the cheap' AND symmetrically and it has all failed; it is a hellish nightmare and no longer acceptable to simply spout back "war is hell get used to it"

'singular & unique war action', history is replete with winners & losers, my sense is that these are willing to tip the entire game board over and declare their loss of diplomatic & war plan savvy a victory before having to admit they were ever wrong

21. He whined to someone who likes whiners
Bush has no self-confidence, despite the fake swagger. He prefers whiners who will suck up to him (no, no dirty joke required) rather than confident, honest people who might challenge Bush and tell him how stupid he is.
